RAMENYA — Restaurant in Gurnee

Finally got around to trying this Ramen venue this past September and I must say it's about time the mall finally got an authentic Japanese noodles house.

Definitely a treat to have especially if you've visited or had the joy of living in Japan as a navy brat like I did. Anytime I eat authentic ramen noodles or step into a Japanese store, like a time machine taking me back.

The noodles are really good here especially the ever popular Miso but maybe just a bit pricy for what you get. Had a side of Gyoza which I thought were good too.

(Forgot to take pic) this is legit. Wife and I were interested in ‘mall’ ramen and had some mid to low expectations but wanted to give it a shot. Amazing! Glad we came! This is going to be a new spot for us when we crave ramen and don’t want to drive all the way to Mitsuwa or Chicago ramen in des plains. I wasn’t expecting much from this food court restaurant when I saw it. I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen and it was so good!!! I’ve been trying a lot of ramen in search of the authentic taste and this is by far closest to my expectations. The broth does not have an overpowering pork taste (it doesn’t have an unpleasant pork taste and it feels smooth). It is garlicky too which is what I’m always looking for in a ramen.
