Dollar World — Local services in Gurnee

They have a display of flags outside the store and I really wanted to buy a Canadian and Honduran flag that caught my attention and was prepared to buy them. As I'm pulling the flagsticks out of a display that looks like it is refreshed now and then, the cashier barks 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING' and I say I'm going to buy the flags, and she says 'DON'T TOUCH IT THAT'S FOR DISPLAY ONLY DON'T MESS IT UP!'. I could compare it to how Mrs. Kim from "Gilmore Girls" treated prospective antique purchasers, but at least she actually WANTED people to buy her goods!

The multiple flags for each nation and other flag displays on the ground that yes, they are all for sale, so it felt more like the cashier felt I as the customer rudely disrupted their 1pm zone-out time for daring to enter their store, purchase merchandise, and pay them $11 in exchange for goods, which...why are you a store in Gurnee Mills, then? Or even in business?

I left disturbed and annoyed and then got the flags I wanted from a lovely travel agency/Chicago souvenir store a few doors down and they were very happy and helpful to take my $11 in exchange for flags and a lapel pin.

On top of that, this store was cluttered and sorted badly anyways, so this is a must-avoid store unless you have a weird thing for being verbally abused for the mere 'crime' of conducting commerce in exchange for goods and services in the nation's largest outlet mall. At least with Ed Debevik's and the Billy Goat I get SOMETHING in exchange for the rudeness AND I actually expect it as part of the experience,...

Absolutely AMAZING DOLLAR STORE! ! ! Everything you can imagine and much, Much MORE! ! ! I drive 20 miles for the last 10 years to get the best deals for all and any occasion. Christmas shopping for my kids, family and friends done in 1 stop, even those people for whom it's hard to find a gift! Items you would need to run a whole mall for at a Fraction of the price, even chain dollar stores. Got my kiddos warm gloves, winter fluffy socks, hats, slippers and bunch of other little gifts. Christmas decorations and off season too for theme parties all year long. CHICAGO GIFTS for friends and family: keychains, shot glasses, mugs, t-shirts, hats... way cheaper than any place around, especially when we go to visit family overseas or have them come here and need dozens of little gifts, as everyone will be expecting something... NAVY, Marine Corps and Army merchandise. Plus everything else you would expect to find at a dollar store! ! ! beware of the Dollar World store the lady sold me a bag of chips and refused to exchange or give me my money back because they were expired, mind you I work here in Gurnee mills mall and see her everyday, we had a whole argument and she even denied I bought them there when I was just there a few minutes before, not to mention she charges an illegal $5 minimum on the credit card machine, in the state of Illinois it is against the law to charge a minimum on a card reader!
