“it’s so bad, I wanna give you a 0, but that’s not possible so i give u a 1” - the best quote to give my overall experience at this movie theater. LITERALLY GO TO ANY OTHER THEATER, ITS WORTH IT FOR SURE. here’s my personal experience- me and my best friend wanted to go to the barbie movie before i left for a trip so we could spend some quality time together. and what better way to spend time than to go see a popular movie that EVERYONES been raving about. as we enter the movie theater we see so many young kids and teens crying or looking really upset. that was the first red flag of this experience. as we walk into the theater we were greeted (not in a nice way) by a very angry, rude man who offered no sense of help. he told us that the signs we located in the front of the actual theater.. but that’s not necessarily true they weren’t outside the theater only inside (which seems kinda weird).. then we get told we could get a refund, we were meet by this grumpy old lady, who we were not being rude or unkind to at all, just asking questions so we could further understand, was no help either…not a surprise (also on the website this rule was not clear at all, very small print and black and white) so now us, 2 girls really just wanting to see the movie and bummed out just like many of the other kids around who are bawling their eyes out. but the most disgusting thing i heard was one of the workers complaining about all the children screaming, which i feel is very unprofessional; even tho it might be very annoying. so yeah that’s basically my experience, it was horrible. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND U DONT GO, SAVE UR SELF...
Read moreFrom the very first movie I saw in this theater which was Pulp Fiction in the summer of '94 till now, Marcus Gurnee has come a long way and has received some of the most sleek and modern upgrades to create the ultimate movie experience.
There are other theater chains that have followed the same trend but some still are stuck in the stone age. Now upgraded to stadium seating w/ reclining chairs, a bar, Zaffiro's menu and an awesome 4DX screen.......this theater is it for me.
Before the latest additions which started I wanna say in 2016-17??, pretty much saw movies in theaters all around Lake & Kenosha counties and if it was expected to be a big hit action flick then then I'd pay extra for an IMAX screening. The 4DX is here now so no more IMAX necessary for me.
Ticket prices as well as concession prices have all gone up in fact most years there's always been a slight hike. This happens with all theater competitors and the price of concessions causes some ppl to sneak in their own food & drink. Well, theaters don't make much money off ticket sales so they're dependent on concession sales.
I really love what Marcus Gurnee has become and I have no need to go to any other theater since this place has everything. They still have their Tuesday deals, discounts for young kids, seniors & military as well as the points club which merits dollars off towards tickets & concressions. It's the closest theater to my house and IMHO the best theater in Lake county to...
Read moreWe were in town for the weekend celebrating my sons graduation from boot camp and since he hadn't seen a movie in months we brought him here to see IT 2. First the good...the theater was clean, the seats were comfortable and the picture itself was really good. However, this was an expectation based on the price of the tickets. Now the bad...for the price that you spend on the food, there should be some level of quality associated with the price. We ordered a steak burrito with beans, regular nachos with just cheese, and loaded nachos with steak, including two drinks; the cost for this was $50. We would have eaten better if we had went to taco bell instead. First off, it took 23 minutes to get our food...which is fine if the burrito hadn't been COLD and if it had actually included the steak and beans I paid for. I complained about the COLD burrito and the guy behind the counter was like "oh, you want me toast it for you?" Uh...what do you think? Then my "Fully Loaded" nachos had no steak (though I paid for it) and almost no cheese. Not sure what it was loaded with, the regular cheese nachos had three times the amount of chips and close to twice the amount of cheese than the "not so loaded" nachos. Was pathetic to say the least. When we come back up to visit around the Holidays, we will probably come back to watch a movie due to location and the theater itself, but we will...
