From the very first movie I saw in this theater which was Pulp Fiction in the summer of '94 till now, Marcus Gurnee has come a long way and has received some of the most sleek and modern upgrades to create the ultimate movie experience. There are other theater chains that have followed the same trend but some still are stuck in the stone age. Now upgraded to stadium seating w/ reclining chairs, a bar, Zaffiro's menu and an awesome 4DX screen.......this theater is it for me. Before the latest additions which started I wanna say in 2016-17??, pretty much saw movies in theaters all around Lake & Kenosha counties and if it was expected to be a big hit action flick then then I'd pay extra for an IMAX screening. The 4DX is here now so no more IMAX necessary for me. Ticket prices as well as concession prices have all gone up in fact most years there's always been a slight hike. This happens with all theater competitors and the price of concessions causes some ppl to sneak in their own food & drink. Well, theaters don't make much money off ticket sales so they're dependent on concession sales. I really love what Marcus Gurnee has become and I have no need to go to any other theater since this place has everything. They still have their Tuesday deals, discounts for young kids, seniors & military as well as the points club which merits dollars off towards tickets & concressions. It's the closest theater to my house and IMHO the best theater in Lake county to say the least.

I went to Deadpool which was awesome, the tickets were 18$. The theater was supposed to be special, some kind of laser projector, I gess. Well we got there early and there was some strange movie playing, it was like a short made by Indeed. I wasn't sure if I was in the right theater so ran out and checked, came back, yep right one. Watching the weird movie in an Asian language, not sure if I'm in the right theater. Thought to myself, the movie looks grainy. Definitely doesn't look like super special laser projections. I looked up at where the projector was and there is a window in front of it. The window looked disgusting, I can't believe any images get thru it. I got pics but it's hard to tell cuz the movie was playing. Well it turns out I was in the right place, Deadpool came on. Now the main motion picture seemed fine, but I gotta wonder if it would have looked much more beterer had that window been some semblance of washed. I have an S23 so the camera is good on my phone. But if u look at the light around the picture u can see how disgustingly dirty the window is. All in all, movies are good and fun but 18$ a ticket followed by 29$ for a large popcorn, medium popcorn and a medium drink is CRAZY! Then on top of that they have a 10 o clock movie start but lock the pop machines out at 11! The kitchen closed before we got there which is fine I suppose, inconvenient, but saves u money too.

Went to the 4DX movie theater which they advertise is the first one in the Midwest. I enjoyed the experience for Auquaman. However in my opinion, it has to be the right movie to give up the comfy dream loungers for the 4DX seats which are not comfy at all. To their defense, the 4DX seats have to be able to move and conduct sound waves which leaves comfort pretty much out. I recommend bringing a blanket too bc the fans that they use to help create the 4DX experience make it rather chilly. If u get car sick easily then I don't recommend this experience bc your seat really moves with the action on the screen. The scents really added to the movie experience but I didn't care for the puffs of air they shoot at you from time to time bc with the huge fans it really dried me up after awhile and became annoying. Overall it was a great experience, but I would only give up the dream loungers for a really, really great movie that the added 4DX effects would rate the added $9 and the discomfort the experience gives u as it puts u "in" the movie so to speak. People who aren't into comfort as I am probably wouldn't care as much about this as I do.

“it’s so bad, I wanna give you a 0, but that’s not possible so i give u a 1” - the best quote to give my overall experience at this movie theater. LITERALLY GO TO ANY OTHER THEATER, ITS WORTH IT FOR SURE. here’s my personal experience- me and my best friend wanted to go to the barbie movie before i left for a trip so we could spend some quality time together. and what better way to spend time than to go see a popular movie that EVERYONES been raving about. as we enter the movie theater we see so many young kids and teens crying or looking really upset. that was the first red flag of this experience. as we walk into the theater we were greeted (not in a nice way) by a very angry, rude man who offered no sense of help. he told us that the signs we located in the front of the actual theater.. but that’s not necessarily true they weren’t outside the theater only inside (which seems kinda weird).. then we get told we could get a refund, we were meet by this grumpy old lady, who we were not being rude or unkind to at all, just asking questions so we could further understand, was no help either…not a surprise (also on the website this rule was not clear at all, very small print and black and white) so now us, 2 girls really just wanting to see the movie and bummed out just like many of the other kids around who are bawling their eyes out. but the most disgusting thing i heard was one of the workers complaining about all the children screaming, which i feel is very unprofessional; even tho it might be very annoying. so yeah that’s basically my experience, it was horrible. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND U DONT GO, SAVE UR SELF...

We were in town for the weekend celebrating my sons graduation from boot camp and since he hadn't seen a movie in months we brought him here to see IT 2. First the good...the theater was clean, the seats were comfortable and the picture itself was really good. However, this was an expectation based on the price of the tickets. Now the bad...for the price that you spend on the food, there should be some level of quality associated with the price. We ordered a steak burrito with beans, regular nachos with just cheese, and loaded nachos with steak, including two drinks; the cost for this was $50. We would have eaten better if we had went to taco bell instead. First off, it took 23 minutes to get our food...which is fine if the burrito hadn't been COLD and if it had actually included the steak and beans I paid for. I complained about the COLD burrito and the guy behind the counter was like "oh, you want me toast it for you?" Uh...what do you think? Then my "Fully Loaded" nachos had no steak (though I paid for it) and almost no cheese. Not sure what it was loaded with, the regular cheese nachos had three times the amount of chips and close to twice the amount of cheese than the "not so loaded" nachos. Was pathetic to say the least. When we come back up to visit around the Holidays, we will probably come back to watch a movie due to location and the theater itself, but we will...
