I have prayed in many mosques in Hamtramck.

However below are some of the strengths, areas for improvement, and suggestions for the management on this Mosque (ICOH): Pros: • Exceptionally neat and clean prayer space. • Elegant and welcoming interior color scheme. • Fresh carpets with no unpleasant odors — a common issue in many other local mosques. • Prayers are conducted on time without unnecessary fundraising interruptions. • All practices align strictly with the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith. • A fully separate and dedicated prayer space is available for women.

Cons: • The toilet and basement wudu/restroom area has an extremely unpleasant odor, which does not match the otherwise high standards of the mosque. • The women’s prayer area remains closed except during Jumma, limiting access. • No inclusive Iftar is served during Ramadan — it appears to be arranged only for a specific group, which may feel exclusionary. • Dhuhr, Asr, and Maghrib prayers are sometimes combined unnecessarily, even with light rain.

Recommendations: • Immediate attention should be given to addressing the odor issues in the toilet and basement wudu/restroom areas to maintain the dignity of the mosque. • The women’s prayer space should ideally remain open throughout the day to accommodate sisters who wish to pray when accompanying family members. • Sometimes, prayers are conducted slightly before the scheduled time, which might be worth reviewing. • Management may consider organizing daily ifṭār during Ramadan and larger weekend gatherings, funded through voluntary donations. This is a common and appreciated practice in many mosques. • Updating the mosque website with a monthly prayer schedule would be very helpful. • In case of combined prayers due to weather or other reasons, timely updates should also be posted on the website to keep the community informed. • Hosting a monthly tähaj-jud prayer gathering could encourage more people to engage in night worship, especially those who are not familiar with praying tähaj-jud on their own.
