Commented on an event post asking for clarification about a $14 service fee being tacked on for two $15 tickets TO A KARAOKE EVENT, not even a concert, lol. Aka a fee the price of a third entire ticket. Instead of explaining the fee structure, or maybe clarifying whether doors were cheaper, or having ANY transparency at all, the venue simply deleted my question.
I'm not a conspiracy idiot, so I don't think this was some coverup or some such idiocy. I don't think the fee is necessarily malicious. I just think it was an unprofessional handling of a sincere inquiry. Childishly silly from a struggling venue, and leads me to wonder how many people have asked similar things about the ticket fee structures and had their comments deleted by whoever manages the venue's social accounts. Good will and transparency go a long way. I'd have taken a simple 'hey, we don't control the fee through the ticket vendor we decided to pair with, but doors are flat price!' or ANYTHING other than just removing sincere inquiries.
So here's my renewed attempt at transparency.
EDIT: They also increased the ticket prices $3 totaling $18 each in the time between when I originally inquired and the time I posted this review, so roughly 24 hours. So likely, my comment was deleted as it showcased the original price of $15 per ticket. So not only no answer, but my original feeling of 'this is not malicious' has had its goodwill stretched thin by the apparent reason behind why the comment was deleted to begin with. Cartoonishly...
Read moreA few weeks ago, I emailed management to secure a place at a table due to my disability. I was assured there would be a spot for me, no reservation required, and all I needed to do was speak with staff at the front door when I arrived.
When I arrived and followed these instructions, the staff at the door directed me to the DJ, which made no sense. I then spoke with the bar staff, who informed me it was “first come, first serve,” completely disregarding what management had assured me. Their suggestion was to ask someone at a table to kindly move. This was incredibly uncomfortable and inappropriate, especially since I had already taken steps to arrange accommodations. I’m not asking to displace anyone, I was simply expecting management to uphold their word and have a place prepared for me.
Eventually, a staff member brought a chair from the basement. While I appreciate the effort, they placed the chair at the opening of backstage, a high-traffic area. This meant I had to continuously move out of the way as people passed through, which created mobility issues, especially once the venue got crowded.
If you require any kind of accessibility accommodations, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This venue lacks the organization and respect necessary to meet even basic...
Read moreI have been to a lot of small venues over the last 2 decades for metal shows. I have only been to The Sanctuary once and I cannot wait to go again. Most small venues end up overcrowded. This leads to more security, and sometimes tense situations. The bar or wait staff is swamped meaning getting a drink can take some time. Using the bathroom can take even longer. None of this was a problem at The Sanctuary. It was one of the cleanest shows I have been to in a while, the bar staff was almost always available or I was next in line, the bathroom wait maxed out at maybe 1 or 2 people. Security was mostly at the door, because it wasn't needed that much elsewhere. Just an overall great experience for a...
