Id like to first start off by asking, does this look like a taco, or a small quesadilla to you? I was charged 2.50 for the measly 2oz sauce on the side as well. To say my experience at this Dos Locos location was a disappointment would be a huge understatement. From the moment we walked in, I could sense our server/host (she was the only one on; brunette, short in height, late twenties to late thirties in age) had had a busy day. So I wanted to be empathetic, but knew our service wasn’t going to be good either. what was received had much to be desired. There were only two other seated tables (one who had for sure gotten their food already) and we were told that there would be about a twenty minute wait for food upon ordering (ended up being longer, mind you we came between 8pm-9pm on a Sunday). That was no problem for our group, as we were so hungry and Dos Locos is usually so highly recommended . I was confused though due to the lack of business on the inside of the restaurant , but I can understand how the line can get backed up when A LOT of takeout orders come in at once. #1 never trust a Mexican restaurant that has Valentina as the table sauce, or doesn’t serve free chips and salsa out the gate. Leave immediately and never return.
#2 a la carte tacos should never be over $2.50. One single taco here costs nearly $5. You’re up charging your guests for inauthentic tacos (with bland tasting meats and veggie options) on unnecessarily boujee metal plates, signaling to the guest that there was more effort put into staging and plating than food and service.
When I asked questions regarding menu items and service, our servers attitude filled tone in response wasn’t well hidden. When asked if I could get a remake small quesadilla (wasn’t made aware of whether the tortillas were corn or flour, just had to find out when it was already brought to our table!) she said it would “be a while” since they had a lot of orders in the back. I found this to be unprofessional , as at any other restaurant tables take precedent. You can change the ETA on to go orders when a rush comes, but once a guest is upset, it is hard to come back from. Ultimately, the server did comp my inauthentic (powder based+whole milk) horchata for the inconvenience and said “sorry”, which brought my bill (yucca fries 8/10, “totally not a taco” quesadilla 2/10 , ) to nearly $17. I left hungry, and feeling like I had just had my worst restaurant experience to date. But in the words of our server, I’m “sorry” for anyone who eats here. You’re better off buying the ingredients and cooking the menu items at home.
Here are some Mexican Restaurant alternatives that aren’t too far away, and worth the bucks!

Dos Locos is my favorite late night spot, whether I’m having a somber sober evening or a silly sloshed night I am always filled with joy the moment the taco lips grace my own. Everything is extremely fresh and flavorful. I have tried nearly everything at Dos Locos. At this point you could say I got my doctorate in tacos and this journey we are about to embark upon is my dissertation. Let’s run through a few of my favorite items together. But first let’s lay down some Pro tips. 1. Any taco can be turned into a burrito. 2. Tacos are a great go to if you want to mix and match to get a smorgasbord of different proteins. 3. If you’re not feeling adventurous or you’re one of those freaks that knows exactly what you want stick to a burrito and maybe get a taco on the side. 4. If you despise the mere idea of a chihuahua being milked you can swap out the cheese for guacamole in a burrito. 5. If you love milking chihuahuas get a quesadilla. 6. Nachos are great for sharing and make a surprisingly good breakfast the next morning. Now with all that out of the way let’s get into the goodies 😈 The fish taco is light and fresh. The battered cod filet is fried in gods image, paired with a tangy and smooth avocado salsa balanced out by a sweet pineapple salsa and finished off with beautiful amethyst cabbage that adds a satisfying crunch. I personally switch out the corn tortilla with a soft and fluffy flour tortilla to keep the chefs on their toes. The lamb burrito is another one of my favorites. Every bite I get an uncontrollable urge to say “baaaaahhhhh!” And to nestle at the feet of my friend named Mary. The flour tortilla is filled to the brim with rice, beans, avocado salsa, onions, amethyst cabbage and sorcery. The keen lamb is mystical and filled with love, I’m assuming from Mary. You said you’re looking for a meal deal? Look no further than the birria tacos. 3 tacos packed with shredded luscious brisket topped with cilantro and onion. A side of rice that would make Claudia Sheinbaum shed a tear of joy. But here’s the kicker that brings it all together it comes with consommé which is liquid gold as far as I’m concerned. Throw that ish on everything and if you still have more when ur done eating slurp it straight. Thank you for joining me for part 1 out of 5 I will see you in part 2 and onward.
Oh and lastly the staff is always super sweet make sure you tip them well! A lot of care and effort goes into making...
Read moreWent in this past Thursday night with my fiance and 3 of my friends to check out the new expansion and ended up leaving pretty disappointed. We ordered our food and it took some time to actually get our food which was no big deal and we were totally understanding about that. Unfortunately, my one friend only recieved part of his order when we got our bill. He was shorted 2 tacos and an order of chips and it was still on the bill. He brought that to the attention to our server and the next thing I know one of the employees comes out yelling and screaming at me about how they were trying to figure out our order and had no ink in their printer and a bunch of other things I can't really remember cause I was so taken back and confused on why I was the one being yelled at when I had no issue with my order. The whole time we were rather understanding and respectful given the circumstances, but were screamed at by staff, never recieved an apology for mistakes or the outburst, and never had the bill corrected. Basically food was paid for and never recieved. The staff took no responsibility for their mistake, but yelled at me and still charged us. Apparently it was our fault their printer ran out of ink even though our order was taken with pen and paper. It's a big mess there now and total disappointment. This place used to be cool spot to stop at the end of a night in Hamtramck. Unfortunately probably not going back anytime soon. I hope they find staff that can act professional and actually know what they are doing. I understand mistakes happen, but all understanding goes out the window when you get yelled at and never recieve an apology or correction to the mistake. Hands down the worst restaurant experience...
