I had never been to the state theater previously till a grateful dead tribute band had come to town. What can I say other than im hooked bait line and sinker and I've already attended over 7 shows because they always have something going on. I walked in and right from the get go my expectations where blown away. The theater has a retro yet down to earth vibe to it that can make anyone feel welcome as they walk through the doors. As you travel into the building it's like traveling through time, you can see the history of the building but with a modern twist added into the picture. The best part hands down is the state theater crew and how well they fine tuned the music and the shows, they are some of the hardest working and most genuine folk I've seen from a venue in a long time. As they run up and down the aisles fine tuning the shows you can see the passion and excitement in their body language to make the shows the best they can possibly be and it really shows when you listen to how amazing the different variety of music sounds. I've been to venues before but never one I genuinely enjoyed as much as this one. Do your self a favor and go check them out it's truly a great...

Though there was some hiccups starting the show -- 130 year old building has its quirks -- but the crew at the theater did a great job of getting things fixed so the show could start (helped that the venue leadership gave 1/2 price drink tickets and checked everyone in while in line in order to expedite getting into the seats).
Several Species played a wonderful show to a sold out house. I was impressed that they weren't too loud in such a small space (shout out to the sound engineers). It was also fun to hear the interaction between the band and the audience -- it was evident that the band had some friends in the crowd which made it feel like seeing a large band in a small club.
Also have to give a shout out to the bartenders. It was a sold out show that started late so there were long lines for drinks but they worked quickly and lines didn't take that long.
This has become my go-to live-show / concert venue in HarCo - and perhaps in the North East given the sound quality and intimate setting to really focus...

A great vibe and vintage feel. Great location in Havre De Grace with plenty of pre-game establishments. The staff seemed very cool and we'll organized. No problem or delays getting in and out. The wait at the bar was a little much and they could certainly class the joint up a bit more. The painted black plywood around the VIP bar looks a bit cheap as well as the table used. Would love to see a more vintage look. I can't wait to go back and have been checking the calender regularly for my kind of shows. Will definitely attend more shows...
