Gupton Gallery — Attraction in Hawaii

We bought Alex’s work on our last Bug Island adventure and started following him on social media. We got to meet him and have him embellish our piece with personalized additions. The announcement of this new gallery was so exciting! What a fun and genuine artist who loves his collectors and the amazing place he lives!

What is truly special about this gallery is Jill the gallery curator and manger (we think. If not she should be!) she remembered us from our last trip, such is remarkable considering the large number of tourists she greets daily, and at a different gallery! She is so incredibly personable! We stopped in multiple nights to gawk at the new 3D piece and just chat with her. Jill helps make coming into the Gupton Gallery an experience and not just a stuffy art viewing. She was also incredible at making kids feel welcome to what is often their first set experience!

We thought it was exceptionally awesome that they are a smart gallery. Each piece has a QR code with purchase info so you’re not reliant on discussing finances with a gallery rep. Brilliant idea!

We visited Kona at the end of February 2023, and one of our intentions while there was to find a piece of art to bring home with us. We went to many galleries in Kona, Hawi, and Waikoloa. We fell in love with a beautiful Tabora work on canvas at Gupton Gallery, and decided to purchase it. It was the perfect piece for our home. However, it was also huge, 60 inches wide! Knowing how rough a baggage compartment on a plane could be, I asked if there were other options to get it to the mainland. The wonderful representatives were able to assure me it could be safely shipped, and were able to do so at half the expense I expected for shipping. It took about a month (a replacement piece had to be ordered so the gallery walls weren't bare!) before our piece arrived. I was thrilled with the very secure packing job that kept our beautiful piece just as stunning as it was in the gallery. We have been nothing but pleased with the attention to detail and the exceptional service Gupton Gallery has provided! We came here to see some pottery but got a much more wonderful experience. Jay gave us tons advice on what to do around the island as well as help us find Bob. What a good guy. We came back the next day to meet Alex. Let me tell you he was quite the guy. He legit gave us an art lesson and drew me a personalized drawing of Bob I could not be more grateful.
