They charged me twice and after 3 weeks of contacting them to resolve the situation they would not refund me the duplicate charge. In essence they stole my money. Now I have to dispute it with the credit card company and go through all of the work myself for their mistake. DON'T EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK BEING ROBBED!
It was my wife, her aunt and I dining that afternoon. We chose to sit outside because the weather was nice. Overall everything went like a normal lunch. The food was decent for a Thai place. The pricing was also decent for it being on Alii Drive. In the end though I didn't realize that I would be charged double.
We tried paying first with a visa gift card with more than enough on it for the meal. It came back declined for some reason so we just gave a credit card instead. Later on we were having trouble purchasing anything with the gift card, so we looked at our statements. That's when we saw that our purchase at Thai Rin indeed went through, on both cards.
I printed out the statements and brought them down to the restaurant making sure to be quiet and calm and simply informative. I figured at this point it was just an honest mistake, maybe a technical error of some sort, no need to make a scene. So I talked to the manager (possibly owner?), Pat, and she said that she would need to double check her records first (I assumed to make sure I wasn't trying to con them) and she gave me a business card with her name written on it saying that she would call me after going over her records.
A couple days go by and she hasn't called me, so I instead called her back. She said she couldn't find the transactions in her records and would have to get their bank statement before anything can be done. So I was stuck waiting. I waited more than a full week before calling her back. She said she hadn't received the bank statement yet and should get it within the next couple of days. So I waited another full week before calling her back yet again. She said finally that they are unable to refund me for the duplicate charge and that I would have to dispute it in order to clear the situation up.
So here I am. Now that they are making me go and do the work to pry my money out their thieving hands, I figured it would be a good time to tell my story to everyone who is thinking about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisiting from the mainland, we were craving for Thai food. We were walking along the waterfront and found this restaurant. The view was amazing! One younger waitress was very pleasant and helpful but the older lady seemed burnt out, spoke very limited English and made a mistake on our order. The food was delicious and savory with adequate portions and ample menu selections. The prices were also appropriate and fair for the island. They also had great vegetarian options! The only reason Iām giving this place 3 stars is because of an error in our orders and the fact that when we asked for a spice tray, the older lady brought out a small bottle of chilli powder. When I asked the younger waitress for a spice tray, she brought out sambal in a small container. Iāve NEVER been to a Thai restaurant without a spice tray and Iāve been to hundreds! On top of that, they charged us for it. That felt very wrong!! We felt that the older waitress who made an order error should not be taking orders due to her limited English. We felt bad for her so we ended up not making a big deal about it but we did not get the dish that we ordered. But over all, the food was excellent and the view from the restaurant was out of this world. I just hope they invest in spice trays...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not normally the kind of person who posts something like this publicly, but in this case I have to: we wanted to go out for dinner here yesterday. After waiting at the entrance for over 10 minutes without anyone approaching us, even though we were seen several times, we took a seat. We were then greeted and served very unfriendly. The cocktail and spring rolls were ok but the main course was terrible. My chicken felt like it was cooked in water and not grilled and that's how it tasted. In terms of quantity, you can't even speak of chicken. it was around 50g on my portion. I had to look for it and wanted to complain about it, but no one came. The sauce was as runny as soup and the vegetables were way too hard. My girlfriend's food wasn't really any different. We both left more than half of it on our plates and then wanted to complain, but the plates were simply taken away from us without asking us whether it was tasty and the bill was left at the table. At the other tables the faces of the guests and plates looked no different than ours. you should think about why the food always stays on the plate. As I said, I didn't want to pay for the food but no one took care of us. so my girlfriend said pay and we'll never...
