I am 100% positive I was racially profiled at this store today.
Sprouts is one of my favorite stores. I started shopping at this location a few months ago and was initially very pleased. So much so that I completed their online surveys for their friendly deli and cashier service.
Well, today at the sushi counter, I was flat out denied service by the sushi chef whose name I believe is Sue. When I asked if I could order a "tuna only" roll instead of the prepared combo tuna & salmon roll in the case, Sue immediately shook her head and said, "No." Then I looked at her counterpart standing right next to her, who looked equally stunned and not sure what to say.
Then I tried to clarify, "So you can't make a TUNA ONLY roll?" She responded, "No tuna?" At that point, I realized there was a language barrier but if that's true, why didn't she ask for help instead of immediately dismissing me?
Then Kara came from literally out of nowhere and immediately victimized Sue stating, "What's wrong, Sue?" I was shocked that Kara could approach this situation with zero knowledge and assume something was "wrong." I expressed to Kara that I don't think Sue understood what I was asking and frustrated that I was being dismissed instead of Sue asking for help.
Then Kara responded, "Oh no, she understands you. I'm getting a manager!" This while pointing her finger at me in an aggressive tone as if to blame ME for causing a problem.
ONLY THEN, once she oddly and suddenly understood that a manager was coming, did Sue come around from behind the sushi counter to talk to me and get an understanding of what I asked. But even then, she was hot and bothered, and I don't want someone in that state of mind preparing my food.
Noteworthy, I placed orders at the meat and deli counters and received excellent service. Perhaps coincidentally, those employees were also people of color.
I left my shopping cart and walked out of the store with my tail between my legs and hiding a full face of tears behind my sunglasses. I can't imagine what I did so wrong in asking for sushi other than existing.
Shannon the manager offered a gift card to come back but safe to say I will never show my brown face in a Sprouts...
Read moreStaff are always helpful if you have questions. I spend too much money here yet I find for some items it is the only place to shop. I see it is become very trendy to shop here too! Update: shopping experience on 8/19/2025. I want to especially THANK and acknowledge two managers at this store. Tori manages all the supplements, oils, potions , lotions and more. She has been working at this store since its opening two years ago. She saw that I was wanting to ask her something, I let someone who was in a wheelchair needing her assistance go first. Tori looked all over the whole store trying to find me. I had circled back to her department. She had answers, suggestions and lists to put me on to call me when popular items came in. Then she took me over to the coffee section and introduced me to the manager of that department named Jasmine. Not only did Jasmine have suggestions for me , she offered me a sample of any organic coffee (fresh ground in the store) to try at home. This is the best organic coffee I have had in my whole life. I only have one blissful cup a day so I want it to be special and perfect. This was beyond my expectations. Good marketing move on Jasmines part too because I will now buy the organic coffee that she let me try. All the people who work at Sprouts have been wonderful answering my questions, checking me out, bagging my food and offering a free little bag of ice to get my perishables home ( over an hour drive for me) safe and still chilled. Thank you all. Groceries are over the top expensive these days . You make it a pleasure to shop at your store and not as painful to spend extra money on quality. Update:Sprouts was having a 70’ Disco dress up day last Saturday (9/27/25). There are changes like Tori who has been transferred and promoted to manager at another Vegas area Sprouts store, Fatima who truly inspires me every time we meet and Jasmine who runs around the store making sure everything including the refrigerators are running properly! You all are the Best of the...
Read moreThere's a creepy Karen who monitors the self-checkout...She seems to stand there waiting for people to steal...I got terrible vibes from her today. Normally, I have the cashier ring up my groceries, which I prefer because I'm slightly visually impaired, but because the only cashier who was working today overcharged me last time (without apologizing), I decided to ring up my own stuff...When I have to leave the store & come back in to wait for a refund, at least an apology should be offered.
When I left the store today, it seemed like the Karen was checking to see if I paid for the plastic bags, which I did...Jesus...This store is starting to remind me of one in a communist country. The only employee who's been great has been the produce guy; That guy is one of the friendliest produce guys I've ever seen.
Why are almost all of the 'organic fruits' at Sprouts seedless? Because Sprouts is a big scam; Fruit that's organic & non-GMO should contain seeds. Anyway, I can't wait for Sprouts to be replaced by a company that actually cares about our health, not one that just pretends to. Did you know that Sprouts is spraying their produce with Produce Maxx, a form of chlorine? Studies show that it's toxic, regardless of what Google says.
Nevada needs more farmers markets because paying for crappy overpriced cancerous produce is definitely NOT worth it...Btw, my eyelashes turned white for a couple of weeks; Do I know if it's from the Produce Maxx chlorine? No...but ever since I started spending more time soaking my produce in vinegar, my lashes are black again...It's a little...
