Edit.
Well, I just came across this response, and it blows my mind how much time they took to investigate and overreact over a mild review. I did not attack anyone, and it was based on months of interactions. I am sure you did not review all the times I visited. I actually recently went back with my kids to try it out, and it was a pleasant experience. I was searching other shops just now and remembered i had given it a low score after 15+ visits, but after the last interaction, it deserved to go up. So, I had come back to adjust my review and just saw this. It is kind of sad to see someone tell me how MY interpretation was with another person, yet they were not even there. Not to mention you have a biased view cause of your employee. But like I said, it was over several visits, and I would still come back. As for the young woman responding. I am sorry if you felt any way. You were very polite last time, and I had no knowledge of this response, but you did. I even asked about the pokemon battle days and was looking to bring my kids to watch them play D&D, but we will just avoid the store if this mild review has triggered such a response from the owners. As far as the jock comment, that was not about you, and sorry you thought it was. It was actually about a person on the video game side, but again, there was a new guy who did an outstanding job showing me a Gameboy advance our last visit. The price of used cards is always up for negotiation and dependent on the condition. There were many times the cards were looked up as LP or NM, but they were easily MP or HP. Which can be the difference of $5 or $100. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RECOLLECTION of me saying I can find it cheaper elsewhere or anything like that. I typically say I will just pass or thanks. I am polite when I am in there, and you all attacking me about this review just shows how over reactive and young your owner and employees can be. I do not use price charting. I may reference it as a secondary, but not on my phone. As a wise person who verifies the cost, i may use other sites to check, and there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with that. Cause i have been burned before. There is nothing wrong with that at all. You can sell for whatever price you want, but it doesn't mean people will buy it. Like I said, I was going to adjust my review. But... after reading all that, I will not. I will also not drop it to 1 star, simply because of our last visit. As a customer who would spend hundreds at times when i went, i would just spend my money elsewhere. You had a chance to easily say we could talk about it privately to get my review changed or removed. That is what a smart owner would do rather than start an argument everyone can see. I would have easily been pursuaded to remove it just by talking. But anyways, good luck, and thanks for showing anyone who reads this how over reactive you all can be.
Original review "The store is pretty cool. The products they sell are nice, but sometimes way overpriced. The reason for the low score is due to the attitude of the staff. They come off as arrogant and rude. It is frustrating cause if you have questions or want to look at multiple items, it is always met with irritation and sarcasm. I have been a frequent customer, but I'd say it is time I stop going. We all used to be nerds who enjoyed the games, but now it seems to be a group of self absorbs jocks who act like they are just better than everyone else. Sad to see how the...
Read moreI’ve visited multiple times, sold them multiple vintage electronics and always been paid out a reasonable price, as of recent I’ve gotten back into collecting tcgs mainly pokemon. Today i called and asked if they were currently buying/ trading for graded Pokemon specifically from beckett as i know most of the graded cards they typically have in their showcase are cgc or psa, he said they would be interested and to bring them down. The two cards i was specifically looking to sell or trade were both beckett 9.5 hydreigon ex from surging sparks which i had found 2 comps from the last few weeks at $120 on ebay, drove from Roswell and when i got there a guy with glasses who i have dealt and has been pleasant in the past and is who i spoke to on the phone almost immediately told me he was busy and wouldn’t have time to price them out for me (in fairness it looked like there was players coming in for magic and they were trying to set up for them) he asked me what i wanted in terms of value i asked if 100$ was unreasonable knowing it was a high ask expecting a counter offer around $80 per card but he said if he could find comps at $120 (which he didnt bother to do and i could provide) he would give me $40 each or $80 for the pair, a single copy of that card sells for about $75 ungraded. Just felt like a disrespectfully low offer (essentially a 33% payout to other comparable sold listings) and seemed more like he just wanted me out of his hair so he could get back to what he was doing rather than just a Rick Harrison pawn stars ‘best i can do is $5’ kinda deal but still kinda made me feel like my business is not worth it to them. Overall still will be my go to local card shop and the staff is very much kind attentive knowledgeable and friendly especially the taller fella who recently had crutches and the lady with the green hair style. They also have a great selection of inventory from tcgs to graded and ungraded comics, vintage dvds and vhs, to rare games and consoles along with tons of other cool always worth taking a look at what that have in when I’m in the area.
EDIT: thank you for the reply, but for one thats the raw value or the value of a 9 from other graders which have much higher population report. They typically sell for a good bit less, second i understand cgc and psa are the graders you typically take in which again is why i called ahead and asked if they would be interested in taking them in. As for him telling me he was setting up for a Pokemon tournament that is simply not what he said he said he was “too busy” and had a frustrated and rude tone the entire interaction, i simply came to the conclusion it was a game night because i saw a few regulars ive seen there before that i know come to play magic (hence why i said magic in my original review). I wont loose sleep over the interaction and i will be back because as i said this still is far and away the best card and collectables shop in the area but it was a low offer (33% as opposed to the 40-60% ive received from you on much less desirable lower valued and ungraded cards), it seemed like he wanted to be doing anything but interacting with me. He could have asked me to wait while they set up as you say he did and i would have, but he didn't, he just said he was very busy and did not treat me with the same kindness and friendliness ive experienced from the rest of the staff. The offer itself was not what made me leave feeling insulted, how he...
Read moreWill not buy or sell cards with them again. They price cards to buy off tcgplayer, but price cards to sell you from cardkindgom (which is usually higher due to a smaller market of sellers). Huge red flag. They quoted us before starting that they buy cards at 35 to 50 percent of the market price based on condition. I was quoted a price at 31 percent of the value, but all of my cards are near mint. I asked why so low the condition is all NM, they back peddled and said that it was cards they already have. (Doesn’t make sense) They also are not easy to deal with. Had to go into the back to phone the owner in private to make a deal. Too many red flags. And they don’t need to be this way they’re selling over market price. So they were trying to by my cards at 31% and then trying to sell me a card that sells on tcgplayer for $3.63 for $6.99. They have to be making a killing buys at 31 and selling at 200%. Too scammy. I’m sure playing cards inside is fine and that they do have a good selection, but won’t support bad business.
Reply: I didn’t drive all that way to visit y’all’s store I was staying in Hiram, but was visiting for the weekend from out of town. I came in the next day to see if y’all had a couple singles I was looking for for one of my decks (so totally unrelated to selling my cards, or to get the overpriced Templar Knights. Btw I ordered 18 from a single seller on tcgplayer when I left the store so didn’t need them when I came in the next day). I didn’t sell the cards because it was a headache to sell to yall. I literally got a headache and had to leave after waiting there so long. The offer was like 190 for trade in credit, and 120 for cash for the best cards picked out. My final offer to y’all was for 150 (which was like 39 percent) minus the price of the cards I wanted to buy, and I take the difference in cash. (I live 5 hours away trade in doesn’t work) Was told “the owner doesn’t like when we mix trade ins and cash offers”. Was scratching my head too, because I offered a great offer 99 percent of shops would jump on. And she had to go in the back and waste more time to make a phone call to get permission. So no I didn’t sell, I retracted my offer and left. And yes I went back the next day to buy a few singles. But After waiting on one confused guy looking at cards, and one 6 year old picking out Pokémon cards for 20 minutes I left. Was trying to make a sell but no one offered me a binder to look at the cards. Overall, Being honest and upfront about how you do business when it’s just plain wrong, doesn’t make up for the fact it’s bad business. If you’re buying at less than 35 percent value and then selling over the market value on tcgplayer, idk why you’re even trying to justify going off cardkingdom price -11%? Why use 2 markets? You had a offer on the table for $383 worth of my best cards, and needed to only give me about $60 cash for them (after taking out the difference for 17 Templar knights). Anyways have a good night good luck with...
