The good parts, gentleman taking our order was well timed, knowledgeable of the menu, helpful and polite, was really excited to have checkers again, last time my fries were so greasy I got sick, and his attitude gave me hope. Food was pretty tasty, but the service reminded me of why I'm not a regular. Given the circumstances, the wait wasn't bad at all.
The prep work left a lot to be desired. The shift in store were focused more on their conversations then the delivery of our food. There was such a long line we didn't want to make a fuss, so the plan was to just leave when we got our food, but they never said when our order was complete, so we just sat in the drive-thru kinda awkwardly. I'm okay if we don't get chick fil a "my pleasure" treatment, but I do like to know when my order is done and I can leave. Handing out a bag and cups and leaving the window open does not feel like the end of a transaction.
I used the time to try to check my bag. It took them two minutes to ask why we were still in their window, and they missed our funnel cake fries which they got them promptly so there's that in their favor. We got home, and I finished checking the order. Everything was so tightly packed I had to rip open the bag so I wouldn't spill cheese fries everywhere. And to be fair that cardboard packaging is a bit flimsy so it's not their fault. But you can't really do that in your car, so that was a little annoying.
I asked them to leave the ranch off my loaded fries, I got ranch. We were supposed to have two flavors of wings, we only got one. The fries were warm but very soft and a little stale, but they're seasoned well enough it's not normally a big deal when that happens. We didn't get utensils or straws. The bottom half of my bun was cut in half for some reason? The construction was sloppy and because I had to check everything, the cookie bits in my ice cream got soft and mushy like bad cereal, but maybe I should have prioritized having that first. I will say the caramel and whipped cream pair delightfully with funnel cake fries.
Also, no one was wearing their masks over their faces. I left mine at home and felt guilty about it, so my own hypocrisy is noted, but given the amount of their own personal risk, they need to tighten that up. I was there for 20 minutes, they are there for hours. And I would hate for any of them to get sick, covid sucks. I work in a hot kitchen and I understand how stifling it is, but that's also a health risk right now.
There might have been mitigating circumstances, but for a Friday night, they should have had more crew, or more leadership to clear the line. No one was rude, it just felt disorganized.
I'll probably check back in when they aren't as swamped but Hiram's Checkers location wouldn't be in my top...

Came in today (April 25, 2019 at 12:25pm) pulled up, one car at the window, another car left in front of us from waiting too long. While we sat waiting to order, 3 cars came past us in the other line. After 10 minutes waiting my wife said "hello" and a loud woman came on the speaker and said "hold on now there's a new person training, it's her first day!". My wife said "there's 3 cars that passed us and we haven't had our order taken" then a loud male got on the speaker and said "well then come to the other side and I'll take care of you"...we and 2 other cars just drive away. Who trains someone at a fast food restuarant at the drive thru window, at the busiest time of day? Too bad, I'll never go back. The only time this place ever ran good is when the male manager works there, he keeps that place running smooth. Wont return and now can't recommend. Went from 5 star to 1. Just like that.
This is a update to a previous review from last year. I've been coming back here over the years and in the last 6 months or so the service and staff are getting a lot better and the food quality is a lot better. I believe it's due to the new(er) manager whose name is Peter. I came in today and ordered my normal Checkerburger and a chili burger and small Coke and the Checkerburger and chili Burger were the cleanest and most well made that I've had at any Checkers in years so that's pretty impressive.The date of this review today is May 10th 2018 11:15 a.m.
I love me some checkers. With a menu slap full of gastronomic decadence, if you want to knock congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction and GERD off your bucket list then this is your place!
Personally whenever I go here I get the checkers burger and a chili burger, and small drink, that way I get the heartburn and veggies at the same time.
This place is the ultimate indulgence for munchies. Highly recommend to all walks of life.

I had a question about the Shrimp bites with fries and he kept cutting me off trying to guess what I was going to say. I talked to him for maybe 20 seconds before I gave up trying to talk. The name on the ticket was Peter k. He was an older gentleman with a real thick southern accent. I couldn't even ask my question he cut me off and asked if I needed anything else I told him no I just wanted the shrimp box. I get to the window and i am greeted with a price of $2.14, not a hi how are you, just a price and NOTHING else with his hand out, I hand him my card as I planned on writing this review in my head and he comes back with a receipt and my card doesn't say anything and closes the window half way. I look at my receipt and oh what do you know he put my order in wrong instead of shrimp he put chicken. When I got his attention once again he looked at me and yelled to the crew in the back to make the shrimp then SLAMS the window closed -- he opens it up after a few seconds after I can clearly see him talking about me to his Co workers and says it will be a minute then SLAMS the window closed AGAIN! He comes back hands me my food DOESN'T apologize for his rudeness and then closes the window again. -- I have not been to this checkers in a while since my last visit went so horribly and I decided to give it a chance again. He made it to where I will never come back to this place. He was rude, with no apologies. Checkers you should really teach your employees better customer service. Someone clearly needs to go back...
