If you want a rushed bigoted experience, then this is the place for you. My boyfriend (white) and I (Africa American) have been to this place twice now. The first experience was weird but the food was inexpensive and pretty decent. During that visit the staff hardly interacted with us. We needed to flag down the young lady with the red hair when we were ready to order, needed refills, and wanted the check. She spent a majority of the time with her back to the customers gossiping with the young blond. It was frustrating but not enough to keep my boyfriend from wanting to go back. Two weeks later, we once again learn this place is not for interracial couples. We sat down and watched as the couple that came in after us received menus, drink orders taken, and food order taken before we had even received our menus. By the time it came to order I simply asked if the “Orange drink” listed was soda. At which the young brown blond man replied, “Do you want fanta?” I replied no I was wondering if the drink was soda or juice. To which he then brings me Orange Fanta Soda (Not what I was asking) my boyfriend then takes it and I order tea. After the another group comes in, gets their menus, and drink orders placed, the server once again passes our table and assist the couple who came in after us. My boyfriend flags down another server standing at the desk (an older Asian lady) and asks if we can place our order. Fast forward to us receiving our food. (Still no tea) my boyfriend and i are chewing our first bite of sushi when the Lady comes back and asks us if we need anything. We say we are waiting for our tea, and she leaves. Five minutes, or less, the male comes back asking if we need anything, we inform him we believe the lady went to get our tea, he leaves. Few moments later the lady is back asking if we need anything, I look behind her and the male is at the register glaring at us with a younger brunette girl. My boyfriend reminds her of the tea and without acknowledging him she leaves. Two snaps of the finger later the brunette comes over and asks if we need the check. I look down at my still full plate and say no I just wanted my tea. She leaves and starts talking to the male who starts to come out direction. I ask “is there a problem? You all keep asking me if I need anything after nearly ignoring us for 30 minutes. We got our food less than 10 minutes ago and now we are being offered the check?” The male states he wasn’t sure if we needed anything and as he walks away the Asian lady is back, without the tea, but with the check. We left since we were being such an inconvenience we were not allowed to enjoy our meal...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions (both with carry-out and dine-in). The wait staff is always pleasant, always there when needed, always helpful, always smiling, and always quick to clear everything no longer needed. I am a sushi snob and I can honestly say that I have NEVER had better sushi than I get every time I eat at Fuji Sushi. You are always started with complimentary edamame and finished with complimentary fruit (usually oranges but once we had pineapple). I have tried many of the chef's special and the customer created sushi rolls and have never disliked a single one. They never charge for my always requested extra wasabi. Their sushi is bar none the best I've ever had (and I've had sushi from many places). I know military men who've been to Japan and say that their sushi is still the best they've ever tasted. It is a little restaurant that you'd never look at and think, "That place is going to be AWESOME." but it most assuredly is. Hiram's little hidden treasure is Fuji Sushi. Try it. You will not be disappointed. Love roll is a must have!!! Dragon roll is super good, too, and the customer's roll Vickie is so good. Drool... :D
Edit to add: Black Samurai is my favorite (and my mother's, as well). My father, who thought he'd never even try sushi, let alone get full on it. He eats until he can't anymore when we have Fuji Sushi. My toddler loves it, too. She sometimes has an avocado roll, but usually she eats the salmon and veggie fried rice. For dessert, she likes to put the complimentary orange slices in her green tea ice cream. :-D
Oh, just one thing: they do not have a liquor license, so there will be no sake/beer/etc. That said, their teas are authentic and made/served...
Read moreWe are from Western Washington and have had a tough time finding great sushi restaurants in our area but this one changes the game. The place is clean and bright and staff are attentive and fun. My daughter and I took my granddaughter to try teriyaki for the first time and they were all quite attentive the needs of a child. I was impressed. Now to the food. I absolutely adore unagi and probably judge most sushi offerings by it. We opted for three rolls and fresh rolls to start. Fresh rolls were UH-MAZE-ING! Perfection and served with a tasty peanut sauce. What I look for in fresh rolls are fresh tasting ingredients and created so they do not vomit all over the plate and me after the first bite. They were perfect to the last bite. Mt Fuji roll will always be on our table when we dine here. It was the perfect blend of spice, creamy, fresh tasting sea creature... just wonderful. We also chose a Spider Roll because it's another favorite and they didn't disappoint. Crab was war and crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside. The last roll was a unagi roll. We opted for it instead of by the piece because it was a part of a three roll special. I will have the unagi by the piece (my favorite) next time. My granddaughter's teriyaki was tasty but they don't prepare it the way we prefer. In western Washington teriyaki shops are fabulous and hard to beat. We prefer our meat of choice to be char-grilled rather than steamed/boiled as they serve at Fuji Sushi. The teriyaki sauce was yummy, rice perfectly sticky and they serve with an amazing side plate (HUGE portion) of stir fried veggies. We will be going back again and again. This is a favorite spot in Hiram and a must try if...
