About as good as it gets in the cinema world--- as going to the movies has become really a lost art in pandemic conditions. I don't know what hurt worse, the sale and rental of the films for home consumption on the small screen, or the pandemic itself, but clearly, the screenings are poorly attended except for a few times a week, which can't sustain these expensive venues and shopping center rent locations much longer. Personally, I love the films on the big screens, with great sound systems and seats that recline. To me, action films, SciFi, historical before 1900, especially anything with knights and kingdoms, and panoramic settings' films, need the big screen for the overall effects. Watching Pearl Harbor or Saving Private Ryan, on a less than 75" screen at home just looses something that can't be replaced, and even the larger 75" plus sized screens don't come close to the effects and sounds juxtaposed on the big screens. Regal is doing the tough it out period right now, and I respect that. If you're worried about the seats, then bring your own spray can of Lysol or Clorox sanitizer, or wipe down the seats and arms with your own cloths. Since most of the seats are bought online, you can see how few seats are sold before you buy, so you won't surprised at how few people there are when you get there. The last 5 movies we saw on weeknights at start times of 7 or 8pm, there were either 2 to 6 other people in the whole cinema. Not a big risk. The reserved reclining seats arrangement places the seating pretty far apart from row to row, including several crosswalks from side to side, so the spacing is adequate as well. Pick earlier viewing times on weekends, and dinner time hours during the week, and you'll literally have the theaters to yourselves for a while longer.
Support your local theaters, especially Regals, who are doing their best--- you'll miss them when you'll want them if they're...
Read moreI have been an avid customer of Regal and furthermore the Oakwood theatre. Today marked what I hope to not be my final experience at regal, when for what amounts to a refund for a bottle of water, I was interrogated and turned away as if I was trying to con the faux manager for a few dollars. Today I purchased two tickets to girls trip for 430 showing, then bought 2 nachos, a beer (large), a fountain drink, and bottle water. I subsequently told the sales lady I didn't want the water, I cancelled it in favour of the fountain drink, but the sales lady already rang it up. She stated she needs a manager to provide the refund, at this time it was 445, movie started at 430 so I said don't worry about refund until after I finish watching movie. The manager at the time, a black lady very nice said no worries and we'll refund it back to your card when you come out. Consequently movie finished, both the prior manager and other sales lady are gone, then Darryl Hughes who in a very berating tone advised, I can't issue you a refund, since I can't produce the receipt. This after 5 minutes of questions of why I didn't wait, and questions about what I orderred, which is fine. Then he stated after all that, nevermind I can't help you, nonchalantly, which he could have stated to begin with, instead of asking me questions around 8-10 other people, unprofessionally and said maybe you can call someone to help, but I cant. After asking who, he huffed and puffed and finally gave me a card, stating good luck. If your managers are taught to smirk, and not encourage customer loyalty, and effective problem solving, congrats, he is well trained. Sorry to sound perturbed, but again going through all this for a bottle water refund, for a water I purchased, never got, I think you too would be questioning Darryl, Regal, and how one should be treated when a paying patron decides to support...
Read moreI came here to watch Lion King. The movie theatre is comfy and spacious but the speakers in theatre 2, B Row were blown out. I sat down the entire movie thinking the music choices made by Disney were bizarre. As soon as I stood up and walked to the middle section I realized that there was serious issues with our section speakers, the accompaniment was louder in the upper area seatings but in our section you only really heard the vocals and a slight accompaniment. The lion king is a musical and I feel so cheated out of experience of listening to the music. I asked to speak to a manager to address their speaker issues. Dylan Masullo, deputy general manager, immediately assumed I was lying about the speakers. He even told me their were âalertsâ the machines made to show they are faulty. Luckily the two ladies that were sitting in the same row happened to passed by and immediately confirmed my story. At this point he probably should have just apologized, realizing I wasnât lying. The four of us in total, strangers, telling him the same exact thing. I expected him to say heâd check the speakers to make sure they are okay as soon as possible. He immediately became defensive. I asked him about the âalertsâ that were supposedly telling him if speakers werenât working. He told us we should have found him and told him during the movie. We told him that we thought it was the movie and not the theatre, it was our first time watching it, how exactly were we supposed to know that there was something wrong with their speakers and not the movie itself? Itâs their job to make sure their equipment is working properly, not the customers. I didnât appreciate being called a liar by Dylan, the deputy general manager. Terrible...
