Whew, here we go. First time here, may return for the sake of the small creators... but otherwise, no.
Great concept; atrocious marketing.
Asked several other customers in the building, most people are first-time walk-ins that have ZERO idea what the place is! The signage on the street welcomes "shop owners" but does NOTHING to encourage customers to walk into the store!
There are several "creators" who are just resellers, nothing more. I'm guessing Painted Tree does nothing to verify the products are what they are supposed to be.
My understanding is now that the small owners have to generate marketing for the Painted Tree, BUT isn't success a two-way street? Painted Tree needs to INVEST in local marketing for their locations. It's a completely asinine idea that small creators have to drum up the foot traffic for your inconspicuous locations.
Make no mistake --- Painted Tree is effectively a storage unit seller. That's it. They are selling fancy spaces, raking in the money from the people who pay a monthly fee for the rental space, and THAT is their business. They DO NOT CARE if people go in there to shop.
Also. Every single creator should be given the same opportunity to have "lovely" spaces. That should be part of your BASIC PACKAGE / SERVICES. How dare you have people setting up like a yard sale when you have actual "micro boutiques" elsewhere.
All of these small business owners are paying your company the same rates for the same spaces, and yet, there's a clear separation. The class disparity is palpable and disgusting.
Researching your rental costs, it looks like many people are paying upwards for $1,000/month for the larger spaces! AND you charge a percentage of the sales? Without basic marketing? Without ensuring EVERY SPACE is "beautifully designed"? Insanity!
As a consumer, I am absolutely and utterly appalled by this shady company. The CEO Mike Cavallo is sitting real pretty while the REAL people and small businesses --- who are making this company all the money --- get the short end of the stick.
Painted Tree may have begun in 2015, but your company WILL NOT make it until 2035 if your organization doesn't make some SERIOUS changes to how you operate your business! If you even care.
Shame on the owner and managers of Painted Tree for such poor management and care for the small businesses they "claim" to support and...
Read moreYou know what? I just went here today with a friend and we spent several hours looking through all the various booths. Quite frankly, I think the stores score should be higher. I read over some of the reviews and I see some of the complaints were the return policy and the prices. These are artists and crafts people and hobbyists putting these booths together. If you want something cheap go down the street to Target. These people may or may not be making a living and renting a booth and investing their time and creativity. I think a person should shop there with the idea that they are supporting an individual small business. If you donât like the quality, move on and donât purchase anything. There are so many other things to see. My friend and I spent approximately $30 each respectively and we each bought 4 unique items. As far as the return policy, itâs posted. There are signs at the checkout counter. Art is subjective and some niche crafts have specific tastes. There is a lot to love about this store and the concept and the contributors. I hope that it just gets better and better. I was personally surprised at some of the quality of work and creativity. Itâs nice to just walk around and get ideas. It reminded me a little bit of an indoor arts festival or Etsy. I hope overtime the store gets...
Read moreThe overall store is nice and clean and inviting. However, there is barely any foot traffic or the traffic that comes through are more elderly people or moms with young kids. It seems like thats how Painted Tree wants to keep it. I was a vendor there and every time I went in there there were new staff. When I first signed on to be a vendor the people they had were very nice and welcoming. There were about 3 young brown men and these 2 young white ladies. Now it seems like the new staff really do not want to be there, it always comes off as if I was a bother to them. Plus when I first signed contract I was told one thing then after i got my booth set up I was told a completely different thing. There is no consistency with what we are told. I was told when we leave if we painted our walls we had to paint them back white, and that they provided the white paint. Now after i gave my notice to not renew lease all of a sudden im responsible for buying the white paint. Had I knew that I would not have...
