Matsuda Dermatology — Attraction in Honolulu

If I could give zero stars, I would. Matsuda Dermatology completely misled me about payment and insurance coverage. From the beginning, I was told my insurance would cover everything. At my first in-person visit, the receptionist assured me I was good to go and fully covered. Fast forward to my third appointment — they suddenly tell me I owe over $500 out of nowhere. As a college student struggling financially, I relied on what they told me and trusted them.

Worse, they started me on a medication plan, and once I “owed” them money, they dropped me and denied my third appointment. I spoke with Stephanie over the phone, and she was rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. She told me if I made a payment on 6/18/2025, I could move forward with my next appointment and set up a payment plan for the rest. I made the payment exactly as instructed — only for her to call me an hour later saying I still can’t be seen “per rules.” When I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor, she smugly told me, “I’m the top dog here.”

I have never experienced this level of disorganization, lack of communication, or blatant disregard for a patient’s situation. They lied to me, dropped me mid-treatment, and tried to squeeze unexpected charges out of me. If you care about your health, finances, or being treated with basic respect — go...

Matsuda Dermatology is the 2nd Dr I visited in the last year for my issue's I’m having with my skin. Dr Matsuda and her assistant was very thorough with their examination. I was very impressed. They pointed out discoloration that I haven’t noticed. She knew exactly what my issues was and addressed them right away.

Dr Matsuda prescribed me with two medications to tackle my Eczema problem. She rated my problem as a 9 out of 10. After the first treatment I must say I was really impressed that the rashes or discoloration all over my body improved by 75-80% overnight after just one treatment. The small red bumps are almost gone. I can see traces of of them but they’re almost invisible or just almost disappeared.

I’m very pleased with the results and I must say. This is the place to go for anyone’s Dermatology needs.

Oh one more thing. As I typed up this review Dr Matsuda called me to be sure I didn’t have any reaction to the medications I was prescribed.

Really horrible experience here!! Really unsettling vibes in the office, lots of loud talking going on by the receptionists and most of it was personal talk that I would not deem appropriate for an office setting.. Also, I ended up being 5 minutes late because the parking garage is a half block away from the actual building so, because of this, I waited for 30 minutes without being seen. The receptionist stated my appt was pushed back because I was late, even though I called right at the appointment time to tell them where I was. This makes no sense to me? When I said I would be forced to cancel soon the receptionists tone towards me turned extremely hostile and they were very sassy toward me until I finally just walked out.
