T.J. Maxx — Attraction in Honolulu

So far majority of the people got it correct. The customer service at this location SUCKS!!! Even though responses from the company apologize n say it will never happen again, but alas it did as I’m writing this review. I was told I couldn’t return a clothing item (even though the tag was still intact) bcuz I tried it on. So what is the dressing room for…4 stealing 🤣??? According to one of the managers, she told me bcuz it touched my hair as I tried it on that it was not in sellable condition. I was flabbergasted. I never heard of this before. She told me I was only able to try it on in their presence n they would take it back but if I tried it elsewhere, it’s considered used n can’t be returned to be resold again. The managers at this ward TJ maxx location are useless. The line is long, u have how many registers open, but only 2 of them r being used n u have 3-5 managers just standing behind them talking story. R mgrs special at TJ maxx that they can’t ring up customers??? But they’ll come to the register when the cashier who is trying to make herself shine in front of the mgr to tell u stupid things like this. N what a joke with the TJ maxx credit card. They keep asking u to open a cc but y would anyone do that when u receive this kind of customer service. I know for a fact that they get something for opening a cc as I worked at a high end store n we got something extra for opening cc. So thank u TJ maxx ward location I will stop shopping at ur store n spend my hard earned $ elsewhere!!! The cashier was also rude by rushing me to press print when I had to bag my own items. This is what I mean about customer service, she could have helped me bagged my items, but instead she just stood there rushing me to hurry up. As a customer ONLY at TJ maxx I’m being instructed to WORK by bagging my own items n answering one million questions on the screen just to get a receipt. I DO NOT experience this anywhere else!!! I also forgot to mention that everytime I would go to this store, their would always be a conflict between customer, cashier, n manager. This time I was the lucky one, I wonder who’s going...

Managers and sales staff were excellent, especially when there was a problem with an item. Three and a half stars for inventory, location, value, and cleanliness. Extra half star for mostly very nice folks working there.

Furniture here is pretty cheap for Hawaii, mostly transitional stuff that blends well with most things. They offer a subcontracted, mainland-based delivery service that then subs out the deliveries again. Delivery service is therefore convenient but pricey, after everyone gets a cut, so best to rent a truck or know someone with a large vehicle, if you just must have that storage ottoman or Chippendale-esque chair.

Very good deals with regular turnover, good return policy, clean store and bathrooms. Mostly mid to higher mid-level items, no real luxury goods (Prada, Chanel, Hermes, Coach, etc). Recognizable brand names though--Michael Kors, Hilfiger, DKNY, Casabella, KitchenAid, Nike, Adidas, etc. Some decent quality at a very good price; though limited quantities on everything, natch.

Fair return policy, though do keep your receipt. Markdowns done in the interim will reduce your refund even if you are returning within the time limit, if you don't have proof of what you originally paid.

Free parking in town. Parking structure (turn left into the entrance after the Pier One/at the Pier One stoplight, from Auahi St.) is very good. Store is located on the third floor of the parking structure, so be prepared to navigate some tight turns to get there. However spaces are pretty big, the structure is covered for when it's hot, and the elevators are large. Escalator available. Benches abound on every level. Free electric car charging stations on the ground level. Good handicapped parking available on each level.

I really like this location. My husband, our trained on-leash pitbull and I go together and the employees are fantastic and so kind to us. They work well when its very busy so it doesn't turn into a stressful situation for everybody. They keep the line moving smoothly and always have us checked out quickly. We visit once every couple of months for a large haul of whatever our family/home needs. I find deals on pet supplies, clothes and kitchen supplies. Yesterday we spent $300 on almost 30 items, including 1 large pet crate bed, hiking attire, Luseta hair products, and dog treats. I got 1 bag of Liberty dog topper and found out my pit really likes it. I called the store today, asked if they have more of this product and if they can put it on hold for me for a few hours. The lady on the phone was so kind and said yes. Even if she had said no, it would have been OK because of her friendliness. And, I recently made my first TJM online purchase and their return policy is that I can go to any open TJMaxx store to return or exchange my items.
