YMCA of Honolulu - Nuuanu Branch — Attraction in Honolulu

I would like to share my first impressions of my time at your facility.

Two days ago(July-7-2016), I purchased a membership at the YMCA 1441 Pali Hwy #3, Honolulu, HI 96813 location. Was very pleased that I could join a family friendly facility where my nephew could join me in exercise activities, and have some fun.

The next day(July-8-2016), I brought my nephew with me to show him some of the activities such as basketball, racquetball, that we could participate together with. Upon our arrival around 4pm, we started with cardio to warm up by using the jogging machine. Three minutes later an Asian male in his 20's approached my nephew and told him he could not use the machine because he was 10. Nowhere in the room was a sign stating an age restriction.

Since he could not join me, we decided to use the basketball court, and the racquetball, and he had a great time.

Before we left I decided to use the elliptical machine to end our day. Five minutes later the same gentleman walked up to us and said to me "I thought I told you not to use the machine." I explained to the individual that this was our first time at your location, and we were checking out the facility.

I'am very disappointed at the reception received at your facility. As a place where families come in to exercise and have fun, this individual did not make me feel welcome to your...

I really like :better said; appreciate the space in the main cafeteria /community area of the Nuuanu Pali location, as a fine artist waiting for adequate housing for the low income individual and the peaceful and safe atmosphere of a part of a very small and shrinking accociations that remain with the same tradition of helping young men and women who are the most important people who are the future of our generations to come. I have been a long time member of another local fitness center. My experience with the staff as well as the client base seems like a feeling of distance and rather than the accessible nature of our time spent here! My daughter was on a field trip with the A(+) program. I called to check to see when they would expect the children to return. This was at 3:10 mind you. The Receptionist didn't have a clue when they would be returning. I was forwarded to 4 different people, the Senior Director, the A(+) Director, the Youth Director and the Site Director. All of which notated on their voicemail's that they were available until 5 pm. I am appalled that not one person is available for questions while they have a bus full of children on a field trip. I understand the uncomfortable feeling being the receptionist but on my 5th call, even the Reception number went to voicemail. Someone should be available and accountable for...
