Every once in a while, you are blessed to find a place like Asato Family where the way they do things changes your outlook on life. Oh yes, you will discover how delicious and SPECIAL the sherberts are here, so incredibly localized and authentic to the melting pot that is Hawai’i. You can be sure that the lychee sherbert is hand peeled by Neale’s mom, and when she gives you a sample of fresh ones before they are made into sherbert- she will warn your children to bite them in half first as to not choke on them. She will also tell you that the lychees just arrived from OK farms on the big island. This place is unlike any place I have ever encountered, with epic long wait lines that wait times are posted to IG, and inventory posted daily. Don’t miss the boat. Sherbert aside, Neale is one of the most down to earth, caring, and humble people I have ever met. I have had the privilege of doing a collaboration between our brands, and I learned so much from working with him. He cares deeply about his community, giving back, and truly being a brand that stands by its values. Any worthwhile event I find out about in Hawai’i, you bet that Asato is involved. Locals already know. If you are visiting Hawai’i, this is a must. There is a reason why the New York Times wrote about them and how the writer was sworn to secrecy to not write the article about this place and this style of sherbert, there is a reason why celebs are constantly having them ship out to the mainland. Just buy as many flavors as you can, bring it to your hotel room and rotate through them and have the time of your life. Don’t forget the...

I love how with every bite, I can taste their hard work and love, all the way down to the ultimately empty pint container they individually hand-stamp! This family works tirelessly, always engaging and showing love to the community, and shows us it is vital to support small businesses.
My favorite is the Super Li Hing, something I would never get anywhere in this world that I always need to make sure I have in stock in my freezer as I wipe one out in one sitting each time. Please keep bringing that bomb joyful flavor back, it’s my life’s one necessity!!!
Parking: I usually find street parking right in the front of the shop, otherwise I park in the Pali Longs Parking Lot.

Read moreAsato Family is one of those local business that I love supporting not only bc of their delicious product but also bc of their great service! I’ve only bought from here twice but will definitely be coming back.
The sherbet texture is perfect - smooth and creamy. I love that they are constantly coming out with new, fun, and local flavors. My favorites so far are the umeboshi and ube condensed milk.
I’m not sure if the truck stops by other locations but I’ve gone when it’s parked by Luana Waikiki Hotel on Kalakaua Ave. Their bright orange truck is easy to spot. The workers are so friendly and considerate! It started to drizzle while we were ordering yesterday and the kind man (I believe his name was Nathan) handed us an umbrella, which was so sweet and unexpected.
Also, whoever manages their instagram account deserves a shoutout too. That's how I initially discovered Asato and it's a great way to stay updated on their...
