UPDATE: I was FINALLY able to get video instructions by reaching out to the corporate office. I find it very sad and extremely unprofessional that the home location couldn't be bothered to handle a simple customer service issue. I will not be returning to this location until some sort of change is made, but I do not fault the PWAT business as a whole.
The manager is very rude. Do not expect a refund nor to reschedule if something prevents you from attending your booking.
I booked for a Valentine's date with my husband. It was a surprise for him, and I was very excited. We live in Tuscaloosa and were prepared to drive two hours to attend. There ended up being an inclement weather condition. James Spann advised everyone to stay home. I called to reschedule 4 hours in advanced. I didn't even want my money back as I still wanted the experience of creating a beautiful canvas with my loved one.
I was promptly informed that I could not reschedule nor get a refund. I explained about the weather conditions, and the manager insisted that we were not in the affected area. I said, "I realize that Birmingham is not in threat, but Tuscaloosa is. I live in and am traveling from Tuscaloosa. If I attend, it will put me driving on the interstate during the storm. Respectfully, you are not a meteorologist, but James Spann is, and he said to stay home."
Again I was told that I could not reschedule nor could I get a refund. Again I was told that the weather was fine. I continued to explain that I have PTSD from the 2011 tornadoes and that I lost a five year old child in them. "It is not worth the risk. This could literally be a life or death situation."
I finally asked why the booking couldn't be rescheduled. I was told it was because "the paint had already been poured." At that point I was furious, frustrated, and kind of rude. I won't even lie that I was only half serious when I invoked my inner Karen and said, "okay, I guess I will come pick up the paint and do it at home."
And that's what I did. When I arrived, the employee there had no idea what was going on. She informed me that the paint had infact NOT been poured for that class yet and she scurried off to prepare the take home kit. During this, the manager arrived but refused to speak to me or even make eye contact with me.
I thanked the employee for her time and left with my take home kit. Upon inspection in the car, it wasn't even the correct items I had purchased. I went back in to request the corred canvases with the correct stencils and instructions. Again, the manager refuse to acknowledge me.
I still have not painted these canvases because I find the instructions confusing and overwhelming as someone who is not remotely an artist. I wanted the instruction that I paid for. I emailed asking if maybe there was a video version of the instructions. I didn't get a response for 10 days. So I emailed again. 5 days later they sent a PDF of incorrect instructions that were similar to the ones I stated were unhelpful in my email.
I read reviews of people with similar issues, specifically the rude staff. I keep seeing them respond with "quality customer care is of utmost importance to us." Really? It sure doesn't seem like it from this customer's experience.
I will never spend money at this establishment again, and I hope anyone reading this...
Read moreI never got to experience the painting portion of the event so this is not a rating for that. However, i was very dissatisfied with the booking portion of their service. I booked a session at the beginning of February, it was scheduled for Sunday February 25th at 4pm. I gave my wife our reservation confirmation in an envelope as part of her Valentines day gift. I bartered at work to change call weekends so i would be off, and even found a friend to watch our 2 year old girl for a few hours Sunday evening as a suprise. Perfect right? I then get a call Friday the 23th (2days prior) saying oops we over booked that time slot with a large party. They wanted to move me to the later session (which doesnt work when someone has to work on Monday morning early) or another to day. Not after all the effort i put forth to make this happen and a cancelation on such short notice, so i said no thank you and asked for a refund.
I feel like a large party wanted to book that time, and they didnt quite have enough seats, so they started trying to move smaller booking such as mine. It shows poor character as a bussiness and s lack of respect for their customers. I will not be doing any future business with this company. Ive heard from friends that the classes are great and a really good time, i just recommend that you be prepared for a change of plans until you actually sit down infront of your canvas with your glass of...
Read moreI'm from Bama but, I live in NY and my 1st drink and draw/painting class in NY was not too exciting to me and I wanted to give it another try.
Truth class was the truth! Me and my guy friend who has never taken any painting classes before really enjoy the entire session. He was very focused on painting and really enjoyed it more than me I believe LOL. I was focused on drinking after we were late because google maps gave us the wrong directions(Sidenote:Go right up to Melting Pot restaurant and you'll see it).
When we arrived Truth checked the system to verify our reservations and he quickly set us up with painting supplies and glasses to drink. We weren't too far behind and because I was really downing my bottle Truth came by a few times to help me catch up with the others. He was very entertaining with us all and had us laughing a few times. I even won a painting which was exciting and definitely a "twist" from 1 of the 2 games we played.
I will definitely take another one of his classes again when I'm back home and you should make your reservation now so you can have a fun and exciting painting experience with a little "twist".
Truth-I'm glad you found your calling and the passion...
