Grand Ticino — Restaurant in Alabama

UPDATE: I gave Grand Ticino another chance and I did NOT regret my decision. They are under different ownership now and definitely offer A+ in customer service (very kind servers and hosts!). I recently had the most delicious Italian food I’ve had in years! It’s like they had someone’s nonna in the kitchen doing home cooking (it was THAT good!). The lasagna was an absolute chef’s kiss and I couldn’t believe how fresh the salad was, almost as if all of it was just picked out of a garden out back. You guys are night and day different from what I last experienced. Keep doing what you’re doing! 👏

OLDER REVIEW: I was a pretty frequent visitor of this restaurant but have decided I will no longer support this business due to the customer service I received. Be careful if you order through their door dash pick up. My boyfriend went to pick up an order I placed via door dash on Saturday, Dec 16. The girl at the counter claimed the order was not paid for and he ended up paying, so the order was paid for twice. The charge is on his card and my credit card, so a double charge. I went there in person after I got off work and not sure if it was the same girl at the counter or not but she was not too enthusiastic about helping me with this issue and didn’t even bother to go talk to the manager but claimed the refund was done and would be on the card within 5 business days. The refund is still not on the card. Sorry but the food is too expensive for such a lack of customer service and lack of care for their own mistake when they should have seen I had already paid for the food in the first place. I...

My husband works near here and goes here frequently for lunch. I’d been wanting to try it so I called in a take out order for dinner. The person that answered the phone was friendly and courteous. My husband picked up the order at our scheduled time when he got off work. They had our food hot and ready. We didn’t care for the fries that came with the Italian Meatball Sandwich. They were extremely over seasoned. The sandwich itself was delicious though. We split it and also shared the Italian pizza and had plenty of leftovers. The pizza was delicious and fresh. Overall, we enjoyed it.

Update: Finally got to go in person and dine in. Had the caprese grilled chicken with sweet potato fries and my hubby had the burger. Very fresh and good quality. Delicious! I had the Tidwell Cocktail with sugar rim and it was very good. There was a problem with my husband’s order and they fixed it with no fuss and gave us a free dessert (cheesecake). Karen was our server and she did an amazing job. Will definitely be back.

Update: Went back again and had dinner this time. The gyro bowl with beef and lamb was delicious. Best tomato basil soup I’ve ever had! My husband had the chicken pasta and it was amazing. We shared the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. They were tender and tasty. The sauce was unique but delicious. The blueberry margarita was the perfect cocktail for a Friday night....

I chose Grand Ticino as our moms night out pick for Friday night. Made a 7:15 reservation for 9 people and we weren't seated until 7:30 or so. Here are our thoughts: -Waited 10 minutes for waters -Waited to order drinks for 20 minutes -Did not get drinks until 30 min later. -Ordered our food when the drink order was taken. No inquiry as to whether we wanted some bread or apps before our dinner order. -I ordered tomato bisque and salad. My bisque was marinara sauce. Two people ordered chicken piccata and it was not good at all. One ordered the roasted veggie pasta, but the veggies were not roasted. The pizza was apparently the only winner. -Ordered a martini and literally vodka in a champagne flute was delivered and was quickly replaced with an actual dirty martini in a champagne flute after I spoke to the one bartender that was working. -The restaurant was overbooked and understaffed and out of several wines on the wine list. -No apologies were made for the lack luster experience. The waiter said he was going to take gratuity off, but did not. No big deal. To sum it up, we had a great time together, but the restaurant experience was pretty bad. Probably will...
