Randolph Market — Attraction in Hopewell

🚫 I cannot STAND big chains. I was ordering groceries delivery just to avoid them.. I just moved to Hopewell and kept driving past this place. Randolph’s. I said one day I gotta check them out. I went in and noticed the older building. Didn’t bother me though. A place that’s been there this long won’t look new. Down home feel to it. The workers all said hello and greeted me. I noticed the produce looks amazing so I grabbed a few things. Moved onto the steak section. I didn’t expect much because I’ve been buying steaks for years from grocery stores and was never impressed. I grabbed a few T bones and a sirloin. I even saw a huge tomahawk (never saw one in person) I plan to buy one as soon as I learn how to prepare it. I also grabbed some pre made cherry cobbler, some seafood salad and a bag of snow crab legs. I didn’t expect much from the snow crab legs either, but I was craving them. The frozen ones I would get from food lion would always suck. Needless to say I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED. Best steaks I have ever cooked at home. The food lion steaks would be tough no matter how I cooked them, but not these. So tender. Meat falling apart. I steamed the snow crab legs and they were equally delicious. I didn’t like the seafood salad but I do prefer mine prepared differently. The cherry cobbler was good and I plan to try the other premade foods. I noticed regular items like juice rice etc was a bit higher but that’s the cost to run smaller stores like this. I enjoy going in every 2-3 days now grabbing staples like milk juice for the kids and my STEAK every time now. I’m addicted to their steak. I’m going today and I can’t wait for lunch time. This is an old-fashioned corner grocery store. Prices are a little higher but the selection of basics is good. If you're tired and just need something on the way home this is great. The few staff people I have met are very nice and they rang my purchases up quickly. It looks like they have some nice home baked type desserts, so I may be updating this review after Lent!

Update 2024: If you need good meat, this is the place. I don't eat a lot of red meat but sometimes I just want a good steak. Their meat is great and even with my lack of the cooking gene, it comes out tender and delicious.! The staff is still wonderful and the prices are a bit high, but that's standard these days. As nice as they are, when prices even out overall, I bet theirs come down...

Smaller,friendlier grocery stores are becoming a thing of the past.The reason i usually shop here is the personable service I get.Over the past few months that service is no longer there.My last experience was not good at all.The cashier being young and not knowing took my money without even a thank you,have a nice day,nothing.The upsetting part is that a veteran cashier appeared to be training the young lady and she also gave no word of thanks,have a nice day nothing.This being said,I can get the same kind of service at the larger food chains and with this lack of customer service I feel that this can and will be the cause of loss of revenue...
