I visited Mill City on Saturday. What a nice classy record store. Their used section is huge and every used record I looked at was in fantastic condition. Prices were very reasonable! Ranged from, $6 to less than $20 on average for used. Staff was very helpful and it looks like they clean every record they sell. I was highly impressed with their selection of used vinyl. They have new vinyl as well, Sell and repair turntables along with some nice speakers to go with the turntables. They also have a downstairs (don't miss this) where their country, jazz, and 45's hang out. I could tell the store was well run and their selection is constantly changing. They have boxes of used records under the display cabinets. These are NOT for sale yet (I was told) because they haven't gone through them to clean, verify functionality/scratches and put them out for sale. I don't think they sell any of the records if they are scratched or damaged as the used selection of vinyl all looked fantastic when I was inspecting the records I was buying.
I'll be back many times. It's worth the drive to such a nice nostalgic record store on a great little Hopkins downtown main street.
Make sure you provide yourself at least an hour or two when you go because the selection is large and you won't...
Read moreI want to start off by saying this store had a great selection. Lots of stuff to look through. My experience was great until I checked out. I Made a really big purchase today. I asked if the guy would mind bringing my stuff up and letting me know the price because I didn’t want to whip out a big stack of hundred dollar bills in the cities, The older gentleman and older lady working were cool with it and understood where I was coming from. A younger guy working the till said I should sign up for the membership so I said okay. During this time a big line had formed and the younger guy made a very rude comment to me that really threw me off. I considered walking out. If someone is spending a grand at your record store you’d think they would all be a little more patient...
Read moreI came into MCS after finding them on Google and also hearing from a friend and audiophile who said they carry turntables in-store (they do!). The staff are SO KIND and helpful! They helped me pull out and test some used TTs and talked me through the units they usually have in-stock. I felt welcome and included and, well, welcome.
It's hard as an adult to come back into a "scene" and be full of questions. You get a lot of Looks and Faces. The crew at MCS were warm and welcoming and made me feel like I belong there as much as anyone else. I will 100% be back and be telling friends.
They also have an incredibly broad and deep used and new vinyl selection. I could spend a whole day here. The biggest Soundtracks section...
