We dined here for New year's day brunch based on a list put together by the chronicle. Not sure if that article brought in more business than they anticipated but it was a poor experience from the start. We had gone to their website and chose to make a reservation for 2 at 2:00. We arrived about 10 minutes early to the host telling us that all they had available was the bar. We asked the hostess about the fact we made a reservation but she just repeated that they only had bar seating available. We went through this quick conversation with the hosts a couple times to understand why we were able to make a reservation on their website if there wasn't going to be a plan for us. As she leads us to the bar to show us some seats you could see the panic growing as the bar was full but she was relieved to find a table on the side of the bar under a speaker available. The busser immediately brought us silverware and Waters but as we were sat without menus the server in the area was confused and thought maybe someone had already started taking care of us so she finally asked after about 10 minutes if we had been helped. She brought us menus and let us know that they were out of 3 of their brunch dishes and 2 of them were what we were planning to order. At this point my wife orders a drink, the princess Leia while we decided what to eat. We decide on the pancakes and the French toast. The food came out in a very timely manner but my wife still had not received her drink from the bar, and at this point we notice other guests going to the bar to get their drinks for their table so I guess we weren't the only ones having issues with the service bar well but bartenders will make drinks when they are making the tips. So we cancel her drink and start to dig in to the food. My wife's Apple pancakes were pretty good, but I was not a fan at all of the French toast. I only ate 1 slice and left the other 2 on the plate. We both ordered potatoes for the side and while they were piping got there was no seasoning on them at all they just tasted like plain potatoes dropped in the fryer and transferred to our plates so we added salt and pepper ourselves. To end our experience we paid cash and left the tip and got to add left but as we hit their side door the waitress could be heard asking if we paid. The service was fair but nothing great. She did have 6 tables from what I could tell. She had us plus the other 3 in the area and then I saw her taking care of 2 other tables on the other side of the back part of the restaurant.
I know this will sound cheesy but we didn't have a great 2019 so wanted to start 2020 with a nice and special meal so we chose weights and measures based off the Chronicles best spots for New year's day brunch and followed the recommendation to make a reservation. I am guessing that the article caused a bigger influx of business than they expected and gave me high hopes for a special kick off to the new year. My hopes fell flat and it put a damper on the start to...
Read moreSo this is my second time going and this time was for dinner and apparently per one of the servers I overheard saying they are under new management and I will start to say that for a Friday night around seven. This place should’ve been packed for the area but that’s just my opinion when I went there for brunch, on a Saturday morning, it was packed. I walk in around 730 and there’s probably 5 tables total bars was empty and the hostess desk is also empty. I stood there for probably a good minute, minute and a half. Finally someone walks over asked if I had a reservation I said no she said I can sit at the bar I said that’s completely fine, I sit at the bar Juan served me and my opinion on his service was just OK even though it wasn’t that many people in there I felt that the staff was a little bit too laxed, but that’s just my opinion even tho it wasn’t crowded. It took a minute for my appetizer to come out. Once I received it it was mediocre. The cheese wasn’t even melted in the middle, however the cilantro sauce that comes with it was delicious. I was very hesitant on returning it but I was also hungry so I just sucked it up and ate it but it definitely was not worth $15. I asked the bartender to make me and mocktail i felt that if I wouldn’t have told him what I like he probably would’ve did something different that was probably better than what he made me. I told him I like refreshing Ginger beer and that’s exactly what he gave me so I paid $10 for a ginger beer with lime. I was stuck between deciding on should I get the cheeseburger with fries or the wild mushroom risotto I got two opinions and they both suggested the wild mushroom risotto. once I received it I was not impressed. It was very. mediocre. It did not come with a protein. I added shrimp. I ended up walking out of there with a bill. Total of $72 and I am all for paying for good food and a good time but honestly this was not worth the money I literally only ate the food because I was starving. Other than that I would not go back to weight and measures, however I would go back for the love croissants. Apparently they had a in-house bakery that sold bread in the front. The new owners did not want to continue that and rented the space to...
Read moreWeights + Measures has surprisingly more space than what I was expecting. The entrance is a little tight but it opens up to a very spacious area that has tables for 2, 4, 6 and 8. There is also a well sized bar with a large selection in cocktails wines and more. The wait time for food is no problem as the servers are always nearby to assist and more than willing to bring drinks and appetizers asap. The place is great for brunch and a safe place to spend time with friends and family. I highly recommend the lobster Mac and cheese! However my personal experience here was not the best as I rarely ask to see managers and I had to do so here. I also had to send a dish back due to its lack of flavor which were the chilaquiles. Bland food is never okay as it’s a restaurants highest priority to satisfy customers. The food tasting experience is one that brings joy the community and it is the restaurants responsibility to provide a wonderful experience or Atleast strive to. My server today switched my receipts with the wrong cards and charged extra items on the bill. It’s very understandable how easy it can be to make mistakes like this but having occurrences such as these happen one right after the other is very inconvenient. One thing servers are also responsible for is explaining the dishes and how they are going to be served. Example: I ordered a simple side of eggs but was charged for the dish 2x. Server explains afterwards that because making one egg is too small they made me 2 eggs and charged me for each egg. If I asked for one item I expect to be charged for one item. If all you can give me is one egg then give me the one egg or explain to me before surprising with a bill I wasn’t expecting. In conclusion Weights + measures is a great place to be but not for me. I won’t be coming back as my experience is not guaranteed...
