I will probably never go to this build-a-bear again.
I brought my sister here for the first time to get the new Sanrio stuffed animals and I was very excited for her and even let the staff know it was her first time. I don’t have a ton of money but I still tried to get her everything she wanted. After we picked everything we wanted we went to get the plush stuffed and the worker asked if we wanted all the add ins and I told her no thank you, which she then proceeded to tell my sister that if she “does good in school and eats her veggies and listens to her parents she can get it next time”. And my poor sister looked at me so sad because she does all these things and she asked me if she doesn’t do those things well when we left and that’s why she couldn’t get them and it made me and her feel like crap because I told the worker no thank you to add ins. She also yelled at my sister to stop pressing the pedal because she slipped the plush off the machine by accident and I understand that things happen but if you work with kids you should know better than to not yell at them for not understanding what’s wrong. Afterwards she also kept joking that her stuffed animals had scoliosis and if it was once I’d have let it slide but she’s making this joke 3-4 times in front of me and my sister. Needless to say I will drive the extra 20-30 minutes to the next mall to get a build-a-bear for her instead of...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed, I took my daughter for a fun birthday experience and the employee was very curt. Typically in roles involving children there is an enjoyment in seeing kids, but she was very matter-of-fact, seemed like she was just doing her job because it was a requirement, which is fine, I understand that may be how she feels about her job, but it really took away from our experience. Because it was our daughter’s 2nd birthday, the bear was $2, minus upgrades. If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for my daughter and buy her anything she says “please” for and looks at me cutely, so I was prepared to be buying quite a bit as she loves stuffed animals. But the energy wasn’t there, it felt forced, our daughter hasn’t even shown interest in the bear (incredibly unusual) but she’s obsessed with a tiny kitten stuffed animal she saw while we were looking at “clothes” something the employee had no involvement in, making it feel like my daughter didn’t feel welcome either. Another lady came in to buy a gift (without a child) and she was much more friendly with her. It doesn’t matter why we felt this way or why there was a difference, the whole experience was just a let down due the interaction with the only employee...
Read moreVisited the store yesterday with my 6 year old. As expected the store was super busy. So as we waited in line to get the bear stuffed, I noticed 2 employees at the register talking, I continue to wait and noticed those two employees move to the front of the store and continued to talk. Because it was such a long line I went up and asked if either could help support the young lady stuffing the bears to bring the line down. One of the employees named Lee mentioned that the lady would be with me shortly and continued talking. Now I am in ear shot of the conversation I realized it was leisurely. As I continued to wait, the other employees stopped and said let me see what I can do and began to help with the line. Instead of supporting the line Lee then went to the back of the store. From a customer service perspective this was super disappointing inconsiderate and highly offensive. I would have left the store but I didn’t want to punish...
