I cannot describe enough how much this place has meant to me since moving to Houston last year. I moved here to recover from repetitive use nerve/tendon injuries to both arms and to do 4 months of occupational therapy. I could barely write my name or type in April 2016, and now I can write pages, as I will do now to describe my experience with Cloud 9- :D When occupational therapy was over, I had to keep up with exercises/muscle relaxation techniques so as not to lose ground in my healing. My sister loves Cloud 9- she brings her sons, husband, and out of town guests there- and she got me hooked on Cloud 9 too! I discovered that the 1hr foot massages are perfect for my needs. 40min of work on the feet/legs and 20 min on the rest of the body. I can't lay on my stomach for too long or the nerves start getting pinched to my head and I get a bad headache, so I learned that a full body massage is out, but in the foot massage, you are only on your stomach for a little bit. It is perfect! Speaking of perfect, I love Helen! She does the exact amount of pressure I need. Firm enough and precise enough to loosen all of my sore and tight areas, but soft enough not to be in pain the whole time. She is so friendly too, and always greets me with a hug or a pat around the shoulders. I wish I could speak to her more and tell her how much she helps me. I hope she has a happy life. I always think how amazing all the therapists are there- their job is very hard labor to be massaging people all day! I hope they take good care of themselves so as not to wear out. The ladies at the front desk are very nice too and do their jobs well!
My shoulders feel so much better after a massage with Helen that I walk straighter and my lower back doesn't hurt. Best of all, I can use my hands almost like new afterwards- very little stiffness or pain for at least a week every time. My nephew often chooses Helen to give him a massage when my sister takes him, so at home, we started a phrase: "The Healing Hands of Helen."
For the last 3+ years I have worked in jobs where I am on my feet all day, so it really helps to have my feet/legs loosened up. I have a hard time not falling asleep at that point and I am pretty sure I end up snoring, which is embarrassing. Anyway, Cloud 9 is amazing. I credit Cloud 9 and Helen with improving my quality of life and helping me...
Read moreI like this spa for its convenient location, hours and who used to be my favorite therapist whom I saw regularly. I had an appointment for a 2 hour massage with her, and the experience fell far short of my expectations.
During the session, I found that the quality of the service provided by her was not up to the standard I have come to expect from your the spa, or her. It was late and I was her last client of the night and I felt like she was basically laying on me for the first 10-15 minutes. On two occasions during my service, I twisted in pain and asked her to lighten up the pressure and she did not. The last time I jumped in pain, and asked again for her to lighten up her response was “Don’t move.” Instead of feeling the relaxation that I usually feel with her, I was in pain.
However, what made it worse and troubled me the most was the undue pressure I felt from the her to leave a larger tip at the end of the session, despite the subpar service. When I tipped her, her response was “Only this for a 2 hours massage?” I believe that tipping is a gesture of appreciation for exceptional service, and I do not appreciate being chastised or coerced into tipping MORE for an experience that did not meet my expectations.
Furthermore, I have booked her at least 6 or 7 times within the prior 6 months and would add than on MANY occasions, I willingly chose to tip above what is suggested but she seemed to not recall those moments at the time. On my visit on Christmas Eve I tipped her almost the same cost of the massage. I should not be subjected to such discomfort during what should be a relaxing experience. Maybe it's just me but I believe it is inappropriate to question a client regarding the amount of the tip they CHOOSE to give.
I wrote management to share my experience. I received a canned response with no followup. I guess I have to move...
Read moreI would not recommend this business. I called prior to showing up for my scheduled appointment to ensure that I would receive the special rate they were advertising for that day. This was the reason I scheduled for Thursday. I was reassured by whomever answered that I would receive the special rate. When I arrived & checked in I was asked to pay before I received my massage because the lady taking payments would be gone when my service was complete.(Unprofessional) I then reminded her that I was promised the special rate & was told I had to pay a higher rate because I wasn’t paying cash. I paid the higher amount just to go ahead and get my massage but I should’ve left then. I filled out the intake form and noted the areas that needed attention and headed back for my massage. William clearly didn’t read anything I wrote, but I honestly think it should have been read to him because he didn’t understand anything I tried to explain during my massage. THE LANGUAGE BARRIER and his inability to understand anything I said made an already miserable experience that much more miserable. The least they could’ve done was explained to him what I wanted prior to my massage starting and even sharing with me that he wouldn’t be able to understand anything I said or communicate with me during my massage. Apart from, “good”, “yes” and “no” there was no other clear communication in my complete dissatisfaction during my massage. Elbowing someone in the back for over an hour is not a deep disuse massage and I could never get him to understand that. What’s even more unprofessional is he said “no tip”? after I asked to speak with someone regarding my service on the way out. Unbelievable….my worst massage to date. Again, I would not recommend especially if you’re accustomed to describing your specific needs for a massage. I sincerely want my...
