A Cool Vibrant Brunch Spot with Room for a Little Room For Improvement
Nestled in the Heights of Houston, Dish Society Brunch Bar offers a lively ambiance paired with an eclectic menu perfect for a leisurely weekend morning. With its upbeat music and inviting atmosphere, it's easy to see why it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
The first thing that strikes you upon entering Dish is the energetic vibe. The space is tastefully decorated with vibrant colors and modern furnishings, creating a welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy their meal. The upbeat music sets the mood for a lively brunch experience, making it an ideal spot for social gatherings or a casual hangout with friends.
The menu boasts a variety of options to please every palate. From classic breakfast staples like pancakes and eggs to more adventurous dishes like avocado toast with a twist, there's something for everyone here. The standout item for many is undoubtedly the decaf coffee, which is brewed to perfection and delivers a rich, robust flavor that is sure to please even the most discerning coffee connoisseurs.
However, while they excel in ambiance & coffee quality, it falls short in a couple of areas. Some dishes, such as the pancakes and eggs, lacked the flavor one would expect from a brunch establishment of this caliber. The eggs were a bit too oily for my taste, and the pancakes arrived lukewarm, which was disappointing.
Furthermore, the cost of certain dishes, particularly the pancakes and eggs, felt a bit steep given the overall dining experience. While I understand that quality ingredients come at a price, I couldn't help but feel that some of the menu items were overpriced compared to similar offerings at other brunch spots in the area.
Despite these shortcomings, I would still recommend this spot to friends. Plus, with a few tweaks to the menu and pricing, it has the potential to be a standout brunch spot in the city. Overall, I give them 3.9 stars, with the hope that they continue to improve and elevate the dining experience for...
Read moreMyself & my girlfriend tried this location once before and it was excellent and decided to try again, unfortunately we were extremely disappointed as much has changed here from the ordering process which was VERY unorganized and then the host in the front gave wrong instructions when I asked about sitting down and ordering, the chairs are extremely uncomfortable, the coffee drinks were very slow coming out and not that great, we did the Chicken & Biscuits and unfortunately they weren't great either the biscuits tasted old as they were sitting too long and hard and even the chicken and gravy quality went down since our last visit. Then even the manager seemed to have an attitude or was annoyed as when we sat down and asked about ordering and I explained that the front host told us to sit down and someone will help us but she clearly gave us wrong instructions, then she goes "yeah that's why I'm here helping you" should have apologized instead of making us feel stupid or like we inconvenienced her as that's definitely how it felt..The servers constantly looked confused for tables and food as to where it's going as it looks completely unorganized and overall flawed system. For the prices and being a higher end breakfast/brunch restaurant our expectations definitely were not met and this location needs to do much better or maybe even improved management as there clearly is many issues to correct here. Won't be in a hurry to return that's for sure and wouldn't recommend, next time will give Lola's across the street a try!
Update 2/15/25, We both finally had a chance to make it back to Dish Society for breakfast and ABSOLUTELY redeemed itself and the food was GREAT! I truly thank manager Elizabeth Parada for issuing us a gift card for our last experience, and as promised I updated my review to reflect our return visit and we left happy & satisfied 👍🏾👍🏾 Will definitely return...
Read moreWe went there today for Mother’s Day breakfast. There was surprisingly plenty of space to sit around 11:15am. Ordering food was another matter all together (took a star for that) a short sweet Hispanic girl was taking orders. I don’t know what was going on. They didn’t look short staffed maybe they were. Instead of two registers there was only one open. The girl was constantly leaving the register and running into the dining area, delaying the ordering and as a result the long line. The same girl came and announced “after ordering food will take 25-30 minutes is that ok with you all” it felt like discouraging you from waiting... we finally ordered at 12:05 pm. Found a spot easily and that’s when we had the most fun playing the fun scrabble game on the wall with magnetic letters. I think this is the reason I gave all three stars! We ordered southwest scramble, traditional breakfast, chicken and biscuits and a kids pancake. I was disappointed that they didn’t have any alternatives for pork for dietary restrictions. I would have appreciated a turkey bacon or chicken sausage or anything! (Half star) Traditional breakfast was delicious, pancake even better. Southwest scramble was ok and chicken and biscuit was not good at all. There was too much gravy on it and it made everything soggy. We ordered vanilla latte, cappuccino both very good. Lemonberry didn’t mention on the menu that it will have club soda. I thought it was flavored lemonade and it was ok.. the staff was nice and helpful and place had a good vibe. The food left something to be desired.. (another half star) will maybe give it another try for lunch. Would definitely go back to sit in the scrabble nook and...
