House of Blues is a solid venue that has a lot of potential but could benefit from some thoughtful upgrades. The interior is visually appealing and definitely has a vibe — you feel like you're somewhere intentional, somewhere with history and creative energy. That said, there’s room for improvement when it comes to structure and hosting logistics. Event flow could be more organized, especially with crowd management and communication during transitions. It's not enough to ruin the experience, but it does take away from what could be a top-tier outing.
One thing to note: I usually valet, so I can't speak much on the general parking situation. Valet has always been smooth for me, which is a plus when navigating busy show nights downtown.
Despite some of the hiccups, the atmosphere keeps me coming back. There’s something timeless about a venue that celebrates music, culture, and community all in one space. I’ll be attending another event here soon and will follow up with an updated review to see if any changes have been made. Until then, House of Blues remains a venue I support — hoping for that next-level glow-up that brings its experience fully in line with...
Read moreI’ve been to the House of Blues several times & even caught a couple of concerts in the smaller Bronze Peacock room.
Recently I drove 2 hours in for Fox N’ Vead & Mac Mankins & the Moonlighters.
I was extremely disappointed @ the Sound Guys lack of quality / dedication. The minute Fox hit the stage, their intro music wouldn’t turn off as the sound crew was not paying attention. I could tell the band was irritated.
Turns out the sound team lost all their settings & none of their in ear monitors were working. I can’t imagine how frustrated the band must have been.
However, Fox pulled through & made it all work which was awesome.
I am still extremely upset for driving that far, to see at band that lives in North Carolina, pay insane parking prices, decent ticket prices & even worse alcohol prices to catch a concert that wasn’t even professionally ran.
Come on House of Blues, you can do better than this. For now, I’ll stick to my locally owned concert venues instead if these big...
Read moreI arrived in Houston this past Thursday evening. I wanted to do something cool on Friday. Stumbled upon OK GO! playing at The House of Blues. Coped a ticket for myself and friend Val. The doors opened at 7pm 🕖 and stood there till the opener started at around 8pm. My friend Val was up since 4am that morning and has been on her feet since. I wish they were more transparent about who was opening for the headliner and state doors open at 7pm and opener starts at around 8pm. The opener brought the energy but the audience really was there for OK Go! After the opener. We waited aimlessly for the main event. We both started to get exhausted from standing and decided to retreat in the dining area behind us. Long behold. It was reserved seating and a shared table will cost us $300.00! We ended up leaning against a wall behind the Sound Engineers. They didn’t us standing behind them and they were the true heroes that kept the show going! Overall it was a good show. Better communication would it...
