We attended the Regal Imax , as a family on a Monday 7pm showing.
It is located off of I-10 and 610 in Houston, TX. Very easy to locate.
Security was very, very visible in the parking lot a plus with the location. Lighting was good, and parking plentiful.
Walking into the complex you get the feeling that it is abandoned or running down. This could have been because of the night.
Going into Regal it was extremely quiet with very few employees visible. The front was clean and tidy.
At the concessions counter service was fast and everything was very clean. We tried the new Cheetos popcorn and it was considered a hit. This theater does not do self serve drinks so refills are not free or easy to get for drinks. They do offer a wide variety of hot food though. At a premium price.
The Imax theater itself does have an elevator for wheelchair and handicap access, and a family restroom located just outside its door , so kudos to them. However when entering the theater the first thing that hit a you is a very unpleasant smell. It smells strongly of stale, musty, "old" things. Carpets are frayed and torn on stairs and could cause a fall, as I almost did when my foot caught a ripped piece.
Seating is tight. We range in size from small , normal , with two men over 6 feet. The gentlemen were extremely uncomfortable with no room for there legs. And all of us were uncomfortable with the seating and shoulder width. It felt like adults being crammed into elementary school chairs again.
And the floors- omg- sticky in spots, and super slick in others, two of our assigned seats had crushed food and wet stuff on them . Luckily we always Lysol wipes as no cleaning employees could be found.
The seats themselves were padded but uncomfortable. So I would advise against going to any show here that is over 1 1/2 hours.
The screen and picture were large and very nice.
Bathrooms were clean and well stocked after the show.
In its heyday this was a great theater, but for the price I would expect they would upkeep the surroundings better , such as clean and unripped carpet.
It was not the worst expierence we have had, but certainly not one I would willing repeat at the price we shelled out. There were six of us so tickets with discounts ran over $80 total on a Monday night. For 4 drinks , 1 small Cheetos popcorn, 1 tub popcorn with an additional $7 dollar discount was still over $40. For this amount of money I do expect cleanliness.
Regal does points for every dollar you spend and will give you small discounts or a free popcorn.
If you want to have an enjoyable date I would reccomend not going to the Imax. I do believe one of there regular theaters might have been more...
Read moreAs a lifelong Houstonian, I frequent this movie theater quite often, and I appreciate the recent renovations they've made, though I find myself wishing for the addition of reclining seats for a more comfortable viewing experience. Currently, the seats recline slightly, which is a nice improvement, but I believe that full reclining seats would elevate the overall experience significantly.
Looking ahead, I sincerely hope that this theater evolves into a more comprehensive movie grill concept in at least a few of its screening rooms. Despite these minor shortcomings, I continue to enjoy this entertainment center, largely due to its vibrant surroundings. The area is bustling with a variety of attractions within walking distance, including diverse restaurants, arcade venues, and comedy clubs—all of which make it an ideal spot for a fun night out.
One of the highlights of this theater is the bar located near the concession stand, offering a selection of beverages alongside a range of tasty finger foods. Whether you’re in the mood for popcorn, nachos, or something a bit heartier, you won’t leave feeling dissatisfied. This theater truly stands out for its convenience and the multitude of entertainment options available, making it a must-visit destination...
Read moreIt's hard to know how to rate the Marq*E right now. When it first opened it was phenomenal. And then it kind of died down, so they modified it by ripping off the front half of it and making it an open Shopping Center. And that was fine. And then right now stuff is kind of dead I guess, because of covid wrecking movie theaters and restaurants.... And right now the movie theater is being heavily renovated, so it looks like it's closed down even though it's open. But the entire middle chunk is one gigantic Van Gogh exhibit, which is awesome and very well done. And it has a bunch of great stuff in it still... I figure in a year or two everything will be back up and running completely, unless this monkeypox thing gets out of control, I guess....
It's very hard the rate or review something that's been hit so hard by a pandemic, and it's obviously still recovering.
The stuff that IS there is definitely great, and there's craploads of parking space, and I have tons of great memories there.
Let's put it that way for now. 🤷🏻♂️
I do highly recommend the immersive Van Gogh exhibit, if you're an art nerd, or if you want to take your partner out on kind of a nice classy date, and your partner is an art nerd. It's very much a museum type thing, but...
