Pros- I had a king sized comfortable bed and the room was quite comfortable regarding amenities (desk, chair, lounge chair, amount of lighting, TV, dresser/closet, fridge size) and space within the room itself. Easy and convenient location off I-10, very close to Marquee and other areas in Houston to get around. Grassy areas where I can walk my dog (no doggie stations though)
Negatives- shower is old/outdated (you can tell it's an old system and they've been patching it up compared to the room furniture), water pressure wasn't to my liking (and you can change the style of water coming from the shower head), water didn't get hot enough to my liking, bathroom fan was very loud for minutes and then would quiet down(probably because it needed fixing), microwave was weak in wattage so you had to heat up food for longer, HATED the TV remote- very hard to push buttons to register and remote felt very plastic/light/fake. Only 1 elevator seemed to be working for the hotel (with during COVID times, you're only supposed to occupy the elevator with one traveling party at a time, but other guests did not follow this policy).
So-so- self service for breakfast and variety got a little boring after being there for a week. It was individual to-go yogurt, cereal, banana/apple, juices/milk and rotated on occasion with muffin or breakfast sandwich that you had to microwave. Wished they can go back to allowing us to make pancakes (they have a machine which you just push a button and it spits out a pancake for you), and have eggs and breakfast sausage (this is what I've historically liked about IHG hotels- their hot breakfast variety). Gym was okay... very small with just an eliptical, bike, and treadmill next to each other (not 6' away). Some balance balls and yoga mats available but no free weights. (definitely during COVID times, I'd recommend one person use at a time). One of the building side doors didn't work to re-enter the building.
Did not get to experience the indoor pool/spa.
Walls could be thin. I heard a few times some 'neighbors' but couldn't tell if they were in the room above me...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights in a 2 room suite with a king bed and separate living room and kitchen area! Kitchen area doesn’t have a stove top which wasn’t a problem for me because I have kids and I always make sure to bring my electric cooker and air fryer lol… regular size fridge keurig coffee maker.. microwave.. kitchen sink and dish soap already provided.. living room had a pull out couch with a dining area and tv bedroom had the comfiest king pillow top mattress with a lounge chair that ended up doubling as a toddler bed lol.. big bottles of dove products lotion, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash I forgot toothpaste and brushes front desk gladly provided us with some!! Breakfast was amazing! Pancake machine.. everyday they had 2 options of meat 2 options of eggs (3 if you include the boiled ones) biscuits gravy a variety of bagels and muffins hot yummy cinnamon rolls different cereal yogurt chocolate milk that was a big hit for my kids lol and a oatmeal bar variety of fresh fruit.. best breakfast I’ve had at any hotel hands down and it’s until 10 Mon-Fri and 1030 on weekends which is a bigger plus! Lemonade and cucumber water 24/7 in the lobby and cookies!.. my only complaint is the pool was advertised as “heated” but indeed is NOT it was absolutely freezing.. hot tub was warm not super hot and jets didn’t work but honestly wasn’t a deal breaker for us.. a cold pool has never fazed my kids lol and as long as I had some warm water to relax in while they stayed off of my nerves was perfect with me!!… customer service is amazing! From check in to check out housekeeping front desk literally everyone you encounter here is amazing! Location is also amazing close enough downtown to be a quick drive to everything… security guard at night.. no questionable ppl walking around no funny smells I slept soundly I felt completely safe as a woman traveling alone with kids.. I will 100% be back and this will definitely be my permanent home away from home every time we’re in Houston… I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel!! Thank you holiday...
Read moreI have stayed at this location a few times and usually the stay has been o.k., not excellent, but average. The perk is that the location is easily accessible to various Houston sites (for Houston standards the location is fairly close to the Museum District, Memorial Park, IKEA and the Galleria) and the price of the hotel is reasonable compared to other areas in Houston.
My experience with the staff is different than the experience of other reviewers. I stayed when the hotel was filled to capacity (I know this because the staff said it numerous time to justify situations I faced). Many have expressed that the highway traffic was disruptive, for me it was not. During my stay, the guests staying in the room above me were making an excessive amount of noise. The front desk seemed to know about the disruptive guests but was not willing to address the issue at that moment due to their perceived language barrier with the guests. Another downside is that we were given the key to the room assuming it was ready and when we went to the room the maids were still cleaning it so we waited in the hall for 5-10 minutes until the room was ready (could have just told us that the room was not ready when we arrived). Lastly, I thought it was awkward that a cleaning person banged on our door at 9:30am- just to see if we were still there.
The breakfast area is a little small and I felt like I was bumping into people or they were bumping in to me.
On a positive note, the room was clean and there were nice shades to block out the bright Texas sun. The nightlights in the bathroom were a nice perk and it seemed like there were more than enough places to charge a phone.
Overall, once we left the hotel to visit places, we were happy that our location was close by since the Houston traffic can be overwhelming.
I did send an email about my experience to the email address listed on this site but never...
