Memorial Hair Salon — Attraction in Houston

I dislike to leave a bad review, but I feel obligated to share my bad experience, especifically with Anita. After 3 months not trimming my hair for obvious reasons, I made an app with Anita (first time in this salon) I brought pics of what I wanted, really it was a simple trim, with layers. I told her the sides were already at the length wanted, but I needed layers on the crown and back. This was by far the worse trim ever. I've had some not that good, but this was the worse. Anita has no idea how to do layers correctly and the worse part, she does not know how to blend correctly. There was no way I can style my hair to look decent. I called her and asked to correct it, I went back giving her an opportunity to make it right and still didn't do it. I went home and I had to blend the back with the sides. I was able to make it a little better. It is so disappointing after 3 months wanting to have a decent trim and I didn't get it. Honestly, this simply reflects her lack of skills as a hairstylist. In addition, she seems bothered even since the first time, doing her job. As a first time client I expect good interpersonal skills from a hairstylist, to build rapport. It seems she doesn't enjoy her job. The outcome of how my hair looked after visiting her is a result of a lack of skills and lack of passion for what she does. I got lucky to meet MaryAm, the owner, one day. I searched the area & saw this salon & hoped they could squeeze me in last minute. It's such an intimate salon, & MaryAm makes you feel like you're in her home getting your hair done. So far, I've gotten hair conditioning treatments (two thus far), root dye touch-up, hair-trim, & blow-out. My hair looks SO much better after she does my treatment or my hair trim & blow-out. I have hair a few inches past my shoulders, & it's naturally frizzy & curly/wavy. I'm latina & have major frizz needs! lol I used to get Brazilian Blow-Outs because of it, and I'll be returning to those soon. I've been doing the conditioning treatments every 2-3 weeks recently, & I've noticed it helps my frizz & overall cooperation & healthy look of my hair. Love the scalp massages during the hair washes. I’m blown away for the amazing job he did with my hair! Very knowledgeable and professional. Aside, he is kind and patient and understands what you want and what looks great on you! He is diligent and Mamés sure you are comfortable. A,so he gives you the best scalp massage when washing your hair!
