I was a patient at River Oaks Hospital from September 9 through September 12 of 2020. I went in on the 9th for an out patient procedure but ended up being admitted because my INR wasn't low enough for the procedure to be performed. It eventually happened on Friday the 11th, and I was kept one last night for observation. The staff was quite friendly all around. There was this one nurse on the night shift that obviously doesn't need her job, as she flat out refused to give me ANY of my prescribed meds. I was to remain on schedule from the Heart Failure Clinic to restart my blood thinners the same evening after the surgery was performed. I spoke with the attending physician and he also instructed me to follow the plan that the clinic had drawn up for me. He also informed me that he would stop by the nurses station to make sure and add my blood thinners to my list of meds. That was somewhere around 7-8 pm. I started calling the nurses station around 9 pm to enquire about my meds. I was told that the nurse would be in shortly. As of 12 am I STILL had not received my meds. I called again around 12;20am and was told the same thing. The night nurse comes into my room and that first thing out of her mouth was "why are you giving me a hard time". I didn't know exactly how to take her question. So I replied with I'm not giving anyone a hard time, I just need to get my blood thinners because I have a mechanical heart valve and it is extremely important that I have them. This nurse told me that I didn't need my blood thinners and nor was I getting any meds because there were none on her chart for me. I knew all this was a lie because I had my own personal meds brought to the hospital for me, because I didn't have any idea that I would be staying a few days. I told the nurse that the attending physician told me he was going by the nurses station to make sure my blood thinners were added to my list. The nurse told me the doctor didn't give her any instructions and that I wasn't getting ANYTHING and that I need to just lay down and go to sleep. I got very upset at being treated like a two year old when I'm sure I'm old enough to be her father. Needless to say, after going back and forth with this so called "nurse" I ended up getting my meds after 12:30 am. I had a pleasant experience up until that night. As long as that "nurse" is employed there, I will NEVER set foot in that facility ever again. They need to get rid of her before she causes them a major lawsuit, or even worse. I called the hospital to file a complaint against her, and I spoke to someone about the issue, and am still waiting to hear back from someone regarding this very...
Read moreLet me start by saying I'm disappointed in the care I received. I'm a Xray Tech/ Er Tech and understand that there are times we are busy, but communication is the key. Unfortunately, I came here for a specific reason, and could have chosen to go elsewhere. I was admitted to the 6th floor after being in the ER 6 hours which i understand and they communicated with me. I got to the floor everything changed. Night shift was fantastic, no issues at all. But the 3 days I had the same PCA and Nurse on day shift was unpleasant The nurse name is Nichole and PCA name was Jhanice. Let me start by saying Nicholes bedside manners were terrible. She was not only rude, but seemed to always try and correct me. I was on multiple medications due to what I came in for, when I first met her she walked in the room, said hey, and had about 5 pills for me. She didn't induce herself and I asked what am I taking? Then her response with a attitude was "nothing crazy or anything like that" then she proceeded to tell me what the Meds were. She was suppose to do a COWS score every 4 hours, and in the 3 days i was there she never asked the questions and that is important because it determines if my meds needed to be increased. Overall her attitude, and bedside manners were unprofessional. Then let's talk about the PCA Jhanice. Whenever I would ring the call bell and ask to speak with the nurse it seems I had to do it multiple times. She seemed unpleasant on each day as if we were disturbing her if I asked for water, or anything needed for ADL. Also I could not rest on one particular day where when the food services came up her and the other young lady were talking extremely loud and about there relationship and other things. This is a long review, and it's sad Healthcare and caregivers are like this. I was not a problem to the staff because I know it's hard being overworked or when you have a complicated patients. Unfortunately I went through something tragic that led me here. Day shift was terrible with these two individuals. Gold star night crew. I would never recommend my friends, family, or even bring a pet if they had that...
Read moreMy Girlfriend & I (Ramsy) was on vacation in Houston when she had a medical emergency. During the Early hours of August 2, 2024 I rushed Ramsy to Rice Urgent Care to get a diagnosis for her which turned out to be acute pancreatitis. She was then transported thru EMS from there to River Oaks Hospital & Clinic. At first our stress levels were high because of some misinformation Rice Urgent Care sent over. Ramsy never suffered from depression nor is she some type of alcoholic that they claimed her to be...and she is NOT BIPOLAR 🙄 Right away, because of this misinformation, Ramsy was being forced into some sobriety program & told she would be on some type of withdrawal medicine. Ramsy & I both work at a high maximum prison in Florida. I am a Sergeant there, she is Admin. We hold ourselves to bigger standards than being some alcoholic or any addict. Ramsy & I repeatedly expressed that to staff at the hospital & also we are not residents there. Some other young lady came in the room asking if anyone checked Ramsy's stuff & took stuff she "could not have"...told her she could only get visits 2 hours a day & so on & so forth. Felt like she was getting booked in a jail. Anyways, after all the confusion was straightened out, all of the medical staff, nurses, techs, EVERYONE was so nice & provided top tier care. You simply cannot find hospitals that treat patients so well like they did. Some of the names of the nurses was Yoshi, Nicole, Ashanti...Dr. Josier Nisnisan OMG I LOVE HIM. He REALLY CARE for the well-being of each patient! I REALLY love him. All who took care of Rooms 607 & 612 (Rooms got switched) from August 2-4, 2024, u guys are awesome! & thank u so much for taking care of my baby! Also I don't remember her name but a very kind older lady came & placed a warm blanket on me while I slept in the chair. I was in & out of sleep so I never said thank you! So...
