Hi, I’m Erica and I live in Baton Rouge, La, where it all started. I made an appointment with Rich in Feb or March of 2017, at his former shop, Smashing the City, in Baton Rouge and I’ve been rocking with him every since. I initially sought out Rich(Smash) because the sides of my hair were thin, due to wearing braids in the past. It caused some balding and I wanted my sides to be blended well so that you couldn’t see that, which I explained on my first visit! Rich’s blend game is sick, so the rest is history! I’m a person that likes what I like and once I see you can provide a service, that’s to my liking, you have a client for life! I am extremely loyal and I meet no strangers, so once I became a client of Smash, we instantly became family, my guy spits knowledge every time I sit in his chair! So it’s not just about the cuts for me, which are 1million% dope, it’s the advice, the encouragement and uplifting that brings me back time and time again!
I followed Rich to Houston, not literally, but I drive 4.5- 5 hrs to get Smashed! Nobody cuts my hair like Rich and I don’t think anyone can! I’ve been asked why do you drive all the way to Houston for a haircut and I quickly say because of the experience! Smash’s shops have always been set apart, state of the art, clean and modern! He gives extra attention to details, not just in his cuts, but also his shops! Even when he started in the salon mall, his room was dope, it was set apart, different from any room in that mall! I love that, he has a standard and I must say, he sets the bar high!
I’m extremely proud of Smash, I’ve been around since 2017, so I’ve seen the growth in him as a barber, a man, a husband, father, son and friend! He is a top notch guy with magic in his hands! If you can get an appointment just once, I promise, you will never go to another barber again! And don’t look at his prices and start to question, what is it that he does, that requires him to charge so much! Listen it’s the cleanliness of the shop, the hospitality of the receptionist, the ambiance and lastly the experience/magic put into every cut!
I could go on and on about Smash, I will close by saying this, you only get one life, why not live it to the fullest! When you look good, you feel good! I’m a woman and my hair is the 2nd thing you see, once you’ve looked at my face, I want it to all to look good! Smash gives me that confidence, that swag, because he smashes every cut! First off everytime I show up 10mins before my appointment. Well one particular occasion, I enter and she is just now starting on someone else. So I have to wait an hour when I’m paying a premium fee ($47) for a kids cut that takes about 15mins. There wasn’t even any courtesy to inform me that I would have to wait an hour. I couldn’t even cancel at this time because I would have received a no show fee. She apologized an hour later. I forgave this instance and thought meh maybe she is having an off day.
Now the new system requires you to get your appointments approved. I make an appointment and it got changed twice time from thé orignal time. I cancelled because I can’t do the later time that she finally approved.
Having an appointment approval process iS fine but the system is flawed. It doesn’t account for days the shop is closed. I originally booked my appointment on a Sunday. It was cancelled so I rescheduled for a new appointment. In order to receive an appointment, you go through a process that gives an email saying the appointment is pending. Well I got charged a no show fee even though I never received an appointment confirmation email or text.
Well I thought clearly it was an error. So I attempted to call 3x. Don’t expect any type of customer service. I’ve called 3x only to be told I will receive a call back. No one ever called me back because I’m told they are busy cutting… I’m not sure 🤔 why they have a receptionist.
I only wanted to follow up to see the email tracking confirmation that indicated I received a confirmation email that would allow them to rightfully charge me a no show fee because I’m a 1000% sure I never received it.
Oh by the way I called back today and was told Ashley claims I called to say I was late. I never called because I didn’t even get a confirmation to come through. PLUS...

Ashley who an outstanding barber . But her and the shop lack professionalism when it’s comes communication. I had schedule two appointments in the recent times. Both appointments were cancel at the last time without calling to tell me the reasons . I reach out to her and didn’t get an answer and Both cases I had to call find the reason why.
