Okay, where do I start! My family and I stayed at this location for a family Reunion beginning July the 3rd and checking out July 9th 2019, for a total of 6days. given the name of the hotel I really didnt see any reason for research. since there was a block booking and all the family members coming out of town would be staying here also.. All the Crown Plaza in Cali where I visit was amazing.. Nope!!BOY was I wrong! should've went on YELP! 1st of all let me just say this hotel needs to be shut down for renovationASAP! Over a dozen family members including myself had to change rooms several times due to mole and fleas in room. My sister had bed bugs in her room. My mother was without television for two days. They have four elevators but only two works since Hurrican Harvey over two years ago at least that what I was told.. The two working elevators went down twice one lasting for hours leaving family members in Wheelchair in walkers stranded either on ground floor or in their rooms. The staff was great at the front desk, Housekeeping was a bit of a challenge since a few of them spoke English and asking for something simple as extra towels turn into a charade game. I saw several working ladies of the night. Police were call due to this situation, Misplaced my room key was told if unable to find it I would have to play $20 by gentlemen at front desk due to a key shortage. While speaking to manager she stated we do not charge for extra keys if lost or stolen .They stated on the website in/outdoor pool. NOPE!! ONLY indoor pool and hot tubs The pool area doesnt look safe no ceiling e everything is open and the Hot Tub is stained and also unsafe. Why they are still able to do business is beyond me. Maybe its a Texas thang. All this inconvenient I received one night free. The GM Region Hunter was very helpful and nice and did what was allowed of him to do. I 'll never stay at this hotel again and neither will my family. I only gave 1 star because I wasn't able to give a half star. Jahara in the restaurant was amazing.I'll give her and the front desk staff 10 stars.Sugarland Crown Plaza is a terrible place to stay with family.I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Read moreThe hotel was great. Loved the room, loved the space, love the restraint and the pool(although did not have time to actually get to use it) but it is the friendly staff that really makes this hotel the best place to stay! My wife and I had to go to Houston to take my mother to MD Anderson because she has severe cancer. On this trip, we were dealing with a tumor in her brain that must have radiation. We have stayed at several hotels and the past and sometimes have been treated as an inconvenience to the staff when we ask for handicapped rooms on lower floors. Not this Time. Everyone at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from the front desk, to the restraint staff, housekeeping and especially the engineering staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The best point I can make it there was a storm the next morning after we arrived that knocked out all the power. We were staying on the second floor because we needed a room with two beds. My mother, who is in a wheelchair had no way to get down to make it to her appointment at the hospital which is the whole reason we were in Houston from Dallas. I asked the hotel staff if there was another was down because the elevators did not work and she could not take the stairs and needed to be at M.D. Anderson for her appointment. The staff told me if the power was not in in thirty minutes, they would come and carry her down so we could make the appointment. It didn’t come on in time and as promised, four men from the hotel engineering staff and a manager showed up. They were extremely polite and professional which help my very scared mother feel better and they did carry her down the steps in her wheel chair so she made her appointment. The entire staff was that way for our entire stay. My wife and I will have to make more trips like this and from now on we know we will only stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel-Houston...
Read moreReally odd experience with this hotel and I travel a lot and stay in many IHG properties. During check in the man working the desk asked if he could take a photo copy of my credit card and ID but not to worry because they would be “shredded” when I leave. That’s the strangest and most unecessary request I’ve ever gotten from a reputable hotel considering they have all that info already as part of my profile. I refused which didn’t seem to bother him which tells me something was fishy. Restaurant was closed so I ate in the lounge area. Only one bar tender was on duty and service was slow but I couldn’t really blame her because she had no help. I waited about 45 minutes after finishing my meal for my check and finally just went up and paid. Food was okay but didn’t settle well and made me mildly sick when I got back to my room. I had something with shrimp in it and one of the shrimp didn’t have the shell removed which was kind of gross. Room condition was dated and the shower curtain didn’t fit so there was water everywhere after taking a shower. I decided to check out a day early because I just got an unsettled feeling about staying here. No one was working the counter at 6am. Had to find the guy and then couldn’t get out of there because he was telling me his life story. Really nice guy but I had to get to work. Looking around they were way under staffed and there was strange things about the condition of the inside and outside of the building. One set of elevators didn’t work and there were really conspicuous and unnecessary cctv cameras everywhere. Like they changed camera systems 5 times but never removed the old ones. Outside there were literally pods (for lack of a better term) of security cameras with conduit and wiring running all on the ground. Just really bad experience. Not what I would expect out of a...
