Hopdoddy Burger Bar is an Austin, Texas based chain that continues to make its presence felt in the Houston area. The chain is known for its burgers, craft beer, shakes, fries, and other pub style food and drink and this location in the Heights area is the chain’s sixth in the Houston area.
This Hopdoddy location is similar to the others in its layout and process. The inside has a centrally located bar with a large number of craft beers on tap and a large, easy to read menu on the wall that displays each beer available. To order, you walk up to the back counter and then wait for your food to be prepared. You can order beer whenever you like and they will send someone to your table periodically to check on things and make sure your beverage is filled. Soft drinks include natural sodas and are self- service.
The food served here consists of burgers with sides and a few alternatives, like chicken sandwiches. I almost always go for a burger and that is exactly what I did when I visited this new location for the first time. I decided on a Brew Burger, which is an option that changes periodically in terms of toppings. Mine included mac and cheese and was quite decadent and delicious- the perfect accompaniment to my beer.
If you’re not in a burger mood, they do serve chicken sandwiches and they even have vegan sandwiches if you’re trying to avoid meat. Otherwise, burgers are the name of the game and the main reason why people visit here in the first place. The burgers range in size from the large, hearty Primetime to the somewhat smaller and less caloric Buffalo Bill. All are tasty and perfect with a beer.
The one issue I had when I made my first visit to this newest Hopdoddy was with the service. They forgot to make my burger upon first ordering, so I had to wait a little longer than usual. But they corrected the problem quickly and the extra time was just what I needed to enjoy another beer. Hopdoddy is one of the best chain restaurants around for burgers and the Heights area of Houston is fortunate to now have a location to call their own, so be sure to visit here when you’re...
Read moreMy first experience with Hopdoddy was when I did an Uber eats pickup a couple weeks ago. It was kinda late and there was a black guy at the bar and he was just so lively. A few days later I had a taste for a strawberry margarita and it was late and since Taco Cabana was closed Hopdoddy came up on my google feed so I went there. I went in and ordered at the counter and they sent me to the bar to pick it up. There was the same black guy at the bar and I told him I had tried to call it in but no one answered. He apologized and said they had just gotten through a major rush and that he would have my drink right out. He was just so lively. That margarita was so good and yall I don't even like margaritas!! It was delicious. Monday I wanted another one and this time ordered a couple for me and my dad. Delicious! I couldn't even wait til I got home.(Shhhh) My dad said it was really good and taste like it was made with real fruit. The strawberry flavor is so rich! Yesterday was my daughters birthday and after we left the skating rink in Bear Creek I made everybody come to Hopdoddy for.....MARGARITAS!! We dined in this time and when we got there the black guy was at the counter. We ordered buffalo fries nacho fries sweet potatoe fries and man those buffalo fries were the bomb!! I even ate the blue cheese and I don't even like blue cheese!! The sweet potatoe fries were AMAZING and I think they put real honey on them. The kids loved the nacho fries. We ordered more buffalo fries and a burger. Idk what the name of the burger was but it had an egg on it. It was really good. So when the black guy brought out the food I said dude what is your name? Yall his name is NELSON. I told him he has great customer service and the reason this review is so long is because of NELSON! I have gone into Hopdoddy 4 times in the last 2 weeks and I remember him because of his cool outgoing personality. Everybody go to Hopdoddy and order strawberry margaritas and buffalo fries and sit on the...

I’m updating my review after two subsequent visits to this location. The third time was the charm because my order was messed up and had to be remade the second time. However, upon my third visit, my Vegan Impossible Burger and Sweet Potato Fries were made to perfection. I also received great customer service and my food was delivered in a timely manner. Everything tasted fresh and the restaurant was pretty clean. Thank you Hopdoddy’s in The Heights for stepping up your game. I shall return.

My first experience with Hopdoddy was in Austin, TX and I have yet to find a location that tops theirs. I was thrilled to find out there was a location in The Heights. As a new Vegan, I was disappointed that I couldn’t partake in the queso fries, but the sweet potato fries are always a great option. I was also excited to try the Impossible Burger.
The stars I’m giving is for our Impossible Burgers and my husband’s queso fries! We ordered and I couldn’t believe the $40 lunch we were about to have (no alcoholic beverages were ordered). Our food took a bit longer than expected to come out, but we waited patiently. The handful of fries on my tray were so over cooked that they snapped in between my fingers. My husband raved about his queso fries so I’ll take his word that they were tasty. I’m not big on food substitutes, our Impossible Burgers were so delicious. I had to look twice to make sure they didn’t slide us some beef on accident. There was no loss in flavor with making it Vegan either. I appreciate that. It also didn’t fall apart as much as the black bean burger does.
I definitely need a redo on this visit, so I’ll give them...
