OMG! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!
Especially:
3 Sister Farms
Bee2Bee Honey
I don’t live in Houston any more, but I travel back for Doctors visits. Each time I place bulk orders & pick them up curbside.
The vendors I mentioned are the real deal. You just can’t get that kind of quality anywhere else in Texas or Arizona. I know, I’ve looked!
I double vacuum seal or can my meat & it’s good for 6 months to a year. Depending if it’s canned or on the deep freezer. The honey is good indefinitely. It’s great for prepping. It has tons more nutrients than sugar & nothing is as good for allergies as Houston honey! All the pollen flows into the gulf air. The weather person calls it the “allergen expressway!”
I’ve tried raw local from all over Texas & it’s not good for allergy relief. When I travel in I get a 50 lb bucket at a bull discount. Then when I get home I put the honey in mason jars or Sprouts Sparkling French Water drink bottles. Something that when the honey crystallizes over time will fit easily in a pot of hot water to de crystallize.
Then I store the bottles in yellow food safe buckets from the Uline web site. Just do they are easy to stand out in my long term food storage area and for added protection against freezing if there is a power outage. Honey will expand when frozen so leave room in your containers!
Plus, when rotating my food storage buckets are easiest to stack and safely move.
Be sure to get a photo of the web site & the vendors contact info when you go here. Once you find a hood vendor you will want to keep that relationship for life. Even if you move. Trust me, when it comes to certain things, Houston is the best place...
Read moreIt's a nice place and is a little better than some of the others I've been to. My biggest complaint is the same one that I've had with others. These places are called "Farmers" markets not a Pre-packaged market, a "Pre-made food" market, etc. If a market like this wants to have a small, specified area that sell Pre-made food, coffee etc so people can sit down and have a breakfast snack then ok. As I said, there should be a specified area for them and not spread out throughout the market. They definitely need to get more organic vegetable vendors and I didn't see any fruit at all.
There were no signs on the stalls to tell you the name of the vendor and whether their stuff was organic, gluten free, etc, or not. An example of this is, I was reading a board of a vendors products and prices when more people were getting in line so I moved back a little. It wasn't until I moved back that I could just see on the top of the canopy the name of the vendor. Most vendors had generic canopy's. Unfortunately, I have had their stuff before and didn't care for it. So if I had waited in line and bought some products, I wouldn't have known who they were until I got a receipt or something.
One thing for absolute sure is they need big signs to direct you to where you can park. For a first time person it is ridiculously hard to figure out where to turn into a random driveway which eventually takes you to a parking garage where...
Read moreVery cool and inspiring famers market in Houston! I learned about this through a Yelp Elite event invite and I was so shocked I didn’t already know about this. This farmer’s market is held every Saturday from 8am-noon. I visited for the first time yesterday and was impressed with how organized everything was especially with COVID-19 precautions in place (no mask, no entry of-course). Parking was well organized, and the lines moved smoothly and quickly. No trouble at all finding parking.
The market itself is such an uplifting environment in an open space with so many different local vendors including cooked meals, produce, plants, fresh juice, ice cream, cheese, and so much more! I thought it was interesting and cool that they also partner with SNAP so everyone is welcome and provided with the opportunity to purchase locally farmed food!
This is definitely a great place to come to stock up on clean groceries or just hang with friends or family. I really liked that each of the vendors I purchased from (The Baker’s Man & Local Fruits) had Samsung Pay. I look forward to coming back and absolutely...
