Had high hopes, left hating every part of the experience. Everyone of every age has to wear a helmet and you have to sign a very lengthy waiver first. They offer rental helmets that you have to pay for at the other end of the parking lot, only after you sign the waiver at the park. The rental helmets look like Andy Mac’s rejected helmets and they don’t even have proper padding in them & they just rattle around on your head. I understand the need for the big waiver after skating around for 2 minutes, it’s because all the concrete is like an ice rink. They messed up the Combi replica it’s impossible to skate. California skateparks polished the concrete so slick that you can pretty much see your reflection. This place blows, everyone that works here should be named Karen — One staff member told me I wasn’t allowed on the vert ramp deck to even just check it out due to the fact that it wasn’t on the original design layout and it’s not covered under liability. He then went on to say you need a different coloured wristband, and you need to be “on the list” or “know someone on the list” (errr cool club I guess). He later told a 6 year old boy he had to wear his elbow pads on top of his sweater so he could see for sure that we wearing them. Unless you’re a 9 year old boy/girl with your coach parent clueless to any skatepark edicate, snaking everyone else at the park, this place isn’t for you. ...
Read moreA ginormous concrete beast of a skatepark complete with SLS/Olympic level street course, 'park' bowl, traditional clover bowl and a wooden vert ramp.
Although obviously expertly constructed, the average skater is able to skate maybe 20% of this park. It's definitely built in order for pros to practice or hold contests. A lot of gap to rails and kicker to ledge combos.
We went right as the school day was ending and the 20 or so kids there were all skating the same 2ft drop over and over again. Not a park to learn how to skate.
With it being a proper Vans park you have to sign a waiver and wear a helmet too and I had to pay $3 to wear a sweaty florescent helmet.
I'm not trying to sound negatively, it's obviously an incredible skatepark- if you can skate...
Read moreI drove all the way from San Diego with three boys. One of them had been at the park before. They would not let us in as ALL guardians need to be physically present to sign waivers. Electronic signatures are valid for legal and government documents and there is absolutely no reason why I as an MD cannot be the guardian with all parents signing electronically. This is the 21st century guys. Get with it and abandon your archaic ways. So disappointing. Will never go back there until this is fixed. What a waste of our time. By the way we went the other day and it was 5:00 and park was closed due to no staff. The three boys were there with me but we were not informed about this...
