Well, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great as well. Even though we called in and joined the waitlist, they did take a little longer to get our table ready. Once we got seated, everything just felt rushed, Even if we had enough time to order and eat. We got there by 1:00 And finished by 2:00. The waitress never mentioned if we wanted to order anything else before they closed the kitchen. This was my first time here. How was I supposed to know they close the kitchen early ?? So I asked her if I can get 2 orders of pancakes to go because they looked so good and I wanted to try them at home. And she abruptly told me the kitchen was closed already. We literally had an hour before they closed. That really turned me off. Anyway, that's my review. I have to say I'm Disappointed, Even if the food was delicious, I feel that they could've made the pancakes for me to go. I wasn't asking for anything out of the ordinary. I'm a paying customer And honestly, if the waitress is Going to tell us, the paying customer, that anything more given than the tip that's already added on the receipt would be appreciated, That's not professional. Honestly, I would've given more, but I felt that she didn't really appreciate us even when the restaurant did not close for another hour there was no communication...
Read moreOne of my favorite restaurants. I've visited this location multiple times. I've done breakfast and lunch. Day date with the hubby, breakfast with friends, lunch with the whole family and I've always had great food and service. There are so many different things to choose from whether you're vegetarian, gluten free or a meatatarian. Some of my favorites are their signature dish chilqueles, the skillet papi chuli and the perfectly unkosher. Their pancakes are delicious ( my littles had them) and omelets I've had the gatherer and Shepard. The diced potatoes are always cooked perfectly. I always enjoy watching all the delicious looking plates and bowls walk past my table as I eat. Today we saw the apple churos French toast & my friend would have changed her order if it hadn't been too late. I'm looking forward to trying their bananas foster French toast next time but the reese's ones look delicious as well. Who knows the chiqueles might call my name or lunch that day instead. If you haven't been you should try them. It's a comfortable welcoming environment where you don't feel rushed to hurry up and order, then eat and leave like some other restaurants. All of their food is delicious and their service from arrival to paying your...
Read moreMetra had train issues today. My train basically died at Elmhurst so we all had to get off the train and wait for the next train. I walked over to Stray to have some breakfast while I waited for the next train. Abruptly the next train arrived quicker than I had expected so I ran out of Stray w half my order. The nice man at Stray brought over the remainder of my breakfast and my tea as I was boarding the train. How sweet!! His kindness made my morning so much better!!
I had ordered a side of bacon which was cooked perfectly. Nice three long juicy strips of bacon can definitely put a smile on my face. I also had an English muffin. It was nicely toasted and it came with plenty of strawberry jam and butter. Yum!! It was just the right amount of sweet to go with my salty crispy juicy bacon. Ahhhh...and then to top off my breakfast I had a cup of English breakfast tea. The tea was really smooth. I’m a big fan of black tea and this tea was a very nice blend of tea leaves. So I’m writing this review to thank the man from Stray who made my morning very pleasant even though the train situation was total chaos.
I will definitely come back for a complete breakfast...
