Horrible, horrible cashiers. Need upper executives or even store managers to address this CONSTANT problem. If I didn't need Filipino spices, I wouldn't go here. I have to go here, but I make it as seldom as possible! This time, the cashier was definitely not proficient at her job. So, so slow...in everything. She would SLOWLY look around each product looking for a bar code, then when found, scan it SO SLOWLY, and then slowly put it in a bag, unless she had to open up a new bag, which she got and opened super, super slowly. After a last item was scanned, it was left on the scanning bed. Once the customer began to pay, she removed the item from the scanning bed, which of course scanned it again. She had to go to another cashier in order to take the double scanned item off the order...more slowness!!! Then paying in cash, it took her so, so, so long to pull 67-cents out of the till. Then to top it off she counted 67-cents two more times in her hand before giving it to me. Of course, no thank you or have a nice day, or thank you for shopping at Seafood City. Nothing...
Go shop at Vons so you'll know how to treat customers. Their parent company, Safeway, is the largest grocery store chain in the nation...why? What sets them apart? Customer service!!!
2☆ Fair, it would have been a 1☆ Poor, but I need the Filipino spices, at least they carry them...lol... If you go here, consistently expect...
Read moreI am writing this review because the meats from the butcher dept was not fresh and service is extremely slow. Recently I purchased 3 pounds of ground pork and found out when I got home that the meat although still cold was gooey and ill-smelling so I had to throw it away. On another occasion, the chicken wings were also foul-smelling and there was no Prepared Date or Sell BY date on the package label. I do not recommend buying meats and fish from the Seafood City Market and am thinking of reporting this to OC Health Services.
The Good: Lots of Filipino food and grocery items. Clean and uncrowded market even on weekends. No disgusting odor like the 99 Ranch Markets in Irvine. Has bakery and fast food restaurants. Checkout cashiers are friendly and helpful.
The Bad: No prepared Date and no Sell (or Use) By Date on the labels of all butcher meat packages. Despite its name, Seafood City there is not a lot of fish variety like Korean markets, 99 Ranch Market or Whole Foods. Fish on ice are generally not fresh that looks like C grade supplies. Some fish are so stale that their eyes are red or nearly opaqued. Customer service at the meat and fish section is slow and unfriendly, and the fish section worker could not match customers tickets to orders. The Grill City (fast food BBQ) is one of the slowest food service. Many items in the market and the City Grill are pricey...
