My fiancé and I had the most traumatic experience last Sunday in Paws Colinas. It was a causal Sunday morning and we bought our pup to play fetch.
Upon arriving, there was an another lady with her Beagle mix dog. (Buddy) we chatted about Buddy’s cute sweater.
A few mins later, a younger lady with two dogs (German Shepherd and Pitbull) showed up. We saw both the dogs off leash entering the big dog park area.
The lady with the Beagle mix dog asked the young lady if her dogs were friendly and she said yes and got the dogs inside.
Another lady with her dog also entered the dog park.
A few minutes went by and me and my fiancé were ready to leave and started walking towards the gate, the next thing we know, the pitbull started attacked Buddy violently and bit the owner as well. Luckily our dog was not injured during this accident.
Buddy was badly injured during this accident, I will spare all of you of the graphic details. This was literally the worst experience of our lives. We rushed the dog to the vet for treatment, he’s currently being treated as I write this. We are praying for Buddy’s speedy recovery.
To everyone reading this, please do not bring your dogs if you are unsure about how they interact with other dogs.
The lady with the pitbull and german shepherd was a foster and did not know the dog very well. Buddy and his owner had to pay the price for this negligence.
Animal control took down the information of the owner of the pitbull and hopefully necessary actions were taken.
We hope that no one has to ever go through this.
FYI- we’ve brought our pup here for over a year and never experienced anything like this before and enjoyed the park. Nothing against the park, it’s definitely a great for dogs and...
Read moreExcellently maintained park with large, fenced areas with plenty of space for dogs to run and play. There are four sections. Two of them are for bigger dogs, and the other two for smaller dogs. There are plenty of dog park regulars at most hours of the day, so there’s nearly always a furry friend there to play with your dog(s). Some evenings, on fair weather days, it’s common for there to be 30+ dogs in the big dog section of the park with plenty of space to spare, so it doesn’t even feel overly crowded. Most owners are decent with their dogs and there have been minimal incidents with aggressive or scary dogs. But like all public dog parks, be aware and attentive to your pet and how it is interacting with other dogs. If it rained recently, the park can have muddy sections. The park also kindly provides waste bins and poop bag stations. Really a great environment! Favorite dog park I’ve visited...
Read moreReally enjoyed the grand opening as they made it so special and fun for the pups. My dog and I have gone out there a hand full of times since it's opened and loved all the dogs that we've come across. The park is beautiful and well kept overall aside from one incident. This morning I took her to the park and she found a mud puddle in the big dog area that she rolled in with some other dogs. It didn't rain the day prior or this morning. It looked like the sprinklers were turned on in that area. If that's the case, that area should be closed off and the other big dog area should be opened up so that our dogs won't be a muddy mess after...
