I wanted to give this restaurant a 5 star review but unfortunately, after the experience I had there while dining with my family, I am reluctant. For a high end restaurant that averages $100 per person, the service was extremely lacking. There were several opportunities for the staff to redeem themselves that were left unattended.
I made a reservation for a party of 4 people to celebrate my sister's birthday. We were seated promptly. However, when our drinks arrived, after placing our drinks on the table, the server spilled drinks 3 additional drinks over my mother and the table. The spill also caught my dress. With 3 drinks spilling on the table and trickling down the table cloth, we quickly stepped away and moved to another table next to us while my mother and I went to the restroom to try to wash the alcohol off our dresses. When we returned, the drinks that we had ordered sat melting on the table. Our server didn't offer to re-make them despite the fact that the flavor and effect of the drinks was diminished. For example, one of the drinks came with a foam top that had blended with the drink by the time we could actually drink it. The other drinks were watery due to the melting of ice cubes. The server should have offered to replace the drinks but she didn't.
Next, the hostess came up to our table to inquire about why we had moved tables. We had to explain to her what had happened. This situation could have been avoided if the staff had communicated better about the situation. Instead, she appeared slightly frustrated that we had moved to a different table even though it was not our fault.
The appetizers that we ordered were fantastic. We will order those again. I appreciate that the server presented us with the option to add a 4th piece to the appetizers to accommodate the party size. The entrees which we ordered were also good, except the dum aaloo. The entire dish lacked salt, neither the potatoes nor the curry had been salted. We kept waiting for the server to come by to ask us if everything was ok but she arrived after we were done eating. When she did eventually ask, we told her the dum aaloo was lacking salt. She could see that it was uneaten on our plates and in the bowl, yet she did not offer any solution. Not only did she not offer to get the curry re-made, she did not even offer us salt!
After this interaction, even though the server saw that we were done eating, we waited for almost 20 minutes for the server to return to us. We even tried to catch her attention and requested other servers to send us to our table, if possible. I appreciate that when she arrived she brought a complementary dessert to celebrate my sister's birthday but we did not appreciate being kept waiting without any notice of what was happening. My mother and I were in sticky and damp dresses and ready to get out of there.
Random side note: We saw a rather large puddle forming on their wine wall, directly across from our table, due to an AC drip. We informed a server about this but he ignored the puddle that kept growing in size. In the very least he could have wiped the puddle to keep it from becoming a spill hazard for guests and employees.
When the bill finally arrived, I was surprised to see that not only had the server made no effort to comp a spilled drink on an almost $400 tab but had instead already added a 20% gratuity. I am all for paying a 20% gratuity but not when the service has been underwhelming, bordering on being unprofessional. We have dined at many upscale restaurants around the globe but have never had an experience like this. I suppose that the staff did not care to make an effort to earn their gratuity knowing that it would be a mandatory charge for the guests.
The server could have offered to comp a spilled drink or the unsalted curry, but she did not. If nothing else, a high end restaurant would offer to at least cover our dry-cleaning bill! I hope Sanjh makes a concerted effort to not just charge elevated prices but instead to offer an elevated dining...
Read moreWe celebrated a special birthday for a special family member and were blown away by the meticulous attention to the details. The menu was custom planned by our friend for his wife’s milestone 60th birthday. The moment you enter, the staff greets us with a smile and guides us to the reserved area. There are two private dining areas. One upstairs and one down stairs. We were first to arrive (on time 😁). The staff made sure we were comfortable. A few minutes later, the rest of the members arrived. As soon as we were situated, we were informed the AC in our private dining room just now went out. Before we felt any difference, they politely escorted us to the upstairs private dining area, which was equally beautiful and had a better view of the outdoors, lake, and buildings. The custom menu was carefully crafted for the birthday girl. The bar menu was equally creative. We were a party of 9 and ordered 8 different cocktails and one mococktail. They were all just perfect. The appetizers included Masaaledaar Chaampan (lamb chops), Saag Panner Kabab, Bharwan Paneer Tikka, and Patta Chaat. Everything tasted so fresh, absolutely delicious, and busting with flavors. Highly recommend Masaaledar Chaampan. It was so tender and juicy that it was falling off the bones. The appetizers were generous portions. We were all so full by now, and we just couldn’t think of jumping to the main course. We requested we needed a 15-minute break before splurging into our next course. The staff was very understanding and accommodated our request. Our host had some photos of B’day girl and wanted to share them with us. The staff quickly helped to hook up the gadget to the projector screen, and we all had a blast enjoying the slide show. Here come the entrees customized for our B’Day girl. New Delhi Butter Chicken (finally some one knows how to cook chicken and not turn into a chewy rubber blob). This is the best butter chicken I have tried in over 40 years in DFW. It was buttery soft and melted in mouth. Don’t miss out on trying this on your next visit. Then there was this exquisite Asparagus poriyal. Perfectly cooked and bursting with unique flavors 👍👍 Next was Paneer makhani—what can I say. A perfect balance of tomato, spices, butter, and cream. Baigan Bharta was very delicious with a hint of goat cheese and mustard oil. Very unique and flavorful combination. Dal Mahkni.....I think it was lacking something, but none of us was able to figur it out. In my opinion, it was on sweeter side! This was the only dish didn't wow all of us. We also had assortments of tandoori kulcha, naan, paratha, jeera rice and raita. All tandoor breads were hot off the tandoor and freshly made. Now the most awaited desserts….We had Gajar halwa and Ras malai. Both desserts were yummy, and we all loved their creative twist on classic desserts. Halva was not too greasy and perfectly balanced the sweetness, generous dry fruits and I think mava too. Ras malai presentation was very visually pleasing and delicious. You have to visit Sanjh to experience it. Finally here comes the birthday chocolate cake with candles. The cake was just perfect bursting with chocolate flavors and hint of butter. The entire dining experience was exceptional. We left very pampered by the creativity of food and their top-notch service. We have been to many similar restaurants, but this one truly stands out. The friendly staff and professional service ensured a memorable experience. The ambiance at the restaurant is chic yet cozy. I can’t say enough about their staff and service. They truly know how to take care of their guests. If you are a foodie like me, this is a hidden gem. I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family and visit again. They exceeded all my expectations in terms of food, service, and...

The one thing that seems to be missing in the DFW Restaurant scene is a Fine Dining Experience focused around Indian food. Sanjh DOES NOT live up to this experience expectation. And to anyone who believes it does, go to Nobu and compare the experience.
This review is in the context of the fine dining experience. The atmosphere is basic compared to many high end locations. It's quite bright, there's a lack of decor from my perspective, it doesn't feel cozy, and hope that you get a good table because they clearly didn't optimize the layout to make it a special experience for everyone attending.
The food was great BUT this restaurant is in Las Colinas. There are several Indian dining spots within the area that have outstanding food. Would I pay 100% more for a dish that is marginally better? Not really.
Now for the real critique. This is a waste of money if you are going for the fine dining experience... Maybe we got unlucky but we went to celebrate our 3 year anniversary after work and it was a massive let down after we were excited to try this place out since hearing about it opening a few months ago.
Let me explain our experience and you can judge.
We arrive and the hostess takes us to our reserved table that we called ahead for. It was in the corner, BEHIND THE BAR. The table was wobbling. I brought it up twice before they were able to switch us to the table next to it in this secluded location where you are completely separated from the main aesthetics of the restaurant. Pray that you don't get these tables because you will also be forgotten about. It was 10-15 minutes in until we received water and roughly the same time they switched us to the other table. The small light wasn't working and we had to request that they bring one that worked properly. My fiance literally asked them, "can you please recreate the same experience on this table." They didn't give us napkins, didn't explain anything about the menu or just to us in general, and immediately asked for our drink order and food all at once. Not in a pleasant tone either. It was all very rushed.
You can imagine our feeling at this point. Now it's about 20-30 min in that we finally ordered our appetizer and drinks and everything is somewhat sorted. Prawns come out quite quick. They were fantastic! I will say that. But another 20-25 min pass by without service! We wanted to order our main and are left twiddling our thumbs. We finally ordered our butter chicken, naan, and paratha. That came out fairly quick as well. This was delicious. Although, the breads are insanely overpriced and they are making hand over fist on those items. You shouldn't need to pay $30 for an adequate amount of bread to eat with your curry. It was also nothing special. I have had better garlin naan at other Indian restaurants.
If this restaurant wasn't a "fine dining experience", I would have supplied 3-4 stars, maybe 5 after giving the service a second chance. But this is nowhere near what a fine dining experience is. It's actually quite comical to suggest that it is.
And this is the icing on the cake.. because the seated us in such a clearly disastrous location, the bar started cleaning up as we were eating our main course. The bar was stacked with dirty glasses as they began closing down. 🤡🤡🤡
Thank you for a memorable dinner experience 🤣🙏
We surely won't forget it and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone. We will actually be sending people away. 🤝
Good luck Sanjh. You will need it if you don't make...
