Had lunch here today and the only reason why I’m giving two stars is because of the service. I generally don’t complain, but we found facial hair in the pasta and notified the server so that at least the kitchen staff knows. All she said was ok and no did not apologize or anything. The food was just ok, but the pesto was probably the best part. I hope you all see this review. Being in the Mandalay, it’s really important that visitors/tourists experience great food and service.

And in response to the comment below, the person did not introduce herself as the manager, so we did not feel the need to tell another server the same issue. The server could have said, "I'm sorry about that. Let me go get our manager" instead of "Ok" and walking away. And the manager could have said, "Hi, I'm the manager. I was told that you had a concern you'd like to share..." as opposed to just saying "Hi, is everything ok?" I did not intend to make a big deal out of this. I was providing constructive criticism but instead am being told, "I wish you had addressed the issue while you were here." We did, but the issue wasn't resolved right there. It's just poor...

Update: the woman that talked to us at the end of our meal never introduced herself as the manager and never brought up the issue that we found. All she said was "is everything okay?" and then she left. We thought she was another server and didn't think we needed to re-address the issue. We only brought it up with our waitress thinking she'll respond accordingly. As someone who works in the food industry and has gone to school for it, the response at the restaurant and online was unacceptable. The response online, makes it look like it's the customer's fault for not addressing the issue at the restaurant when we did tell the waitress. I hope that your staff can learn from this as opposed to shifting the blame on the customer.

The pesto pasta was good and the shaved parmesan added a little bit of saltiness to it, but I had it with salmon and it was dry and bland. My sister had the same, but with chicken and the chicken was bland. She also found facial hair in the pasta. We told our waitress and all she said was ok, not even an apology. I honestly got better service...

Do not go here after 10pm!! My husband and I were hungry after an event so we stopped in after seeing the pictures and positive reviews, only to find that they only serve a late night menu after 10. No problem, our mistake for not seeing that online. Well, seems like the late night menu is basically… whatever they can throw into a microwave?

We ordered the pretzel (lukewarm), spinach artichoke dip (tasted like it came from a jar), and the candied bacon (🤢). The pretzel and dip were already sad looking, but the limp chewy bacon shoved into a cup was the nail in the coffin. Even if the food wasn’t actually microwaved, it certainly tasted like it.

The servers were nice, and the space itself seemed nice enough, though smaller than we expected. There wasn’t any music playing, which we found odd, but there is a touchtunes jukebox. Beer list is fairly extensive, no complaints.

Overall, steer clear if you’re wanting food! We can’t speak for the main menu, but if the late menu was any indication, we don’t have much confidence in the rest of the food. Definitely a...

Some street parking available, but you do have to walk a bit. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Some staff wore masks. There is a bar area and more seating area available. Overall very nice vibe inside. Feels cozy and relaxing that you want to unwind and enjoy a drink or two here. We had a mixed drink each and then a beer. Their beer list is quite expansive, if you feel overwhelmed like I did, the server was very informative and recommended some delicious choices! Tacos: a hint of spicy, all the ingredients tasted really fresh. Resets your palette while drinking. Sliders: perfect size to share and burger was juicy. Definitely good beer food. Would love to go back…really like the vibe inside and service was great. Too bad we went really close to closing time 😢

Was delighted to see a Ginger Man when I happened to be in Irving so I stopped in. Good beer selection, friendly staff. But I have to say, I was surprised when neither of the two beers I ordered were on Happy Hour - a sign above the bar said most draft beers are $1 off. I thought, what are the odds that both are not on HH? Turns out pretty good, as when they say "most" they mean roughly 10% of their beers (9/82). It's a couple bucks, so whatever - not some amazing sale, but if the sign has said "some" beers I would have inspected the menu to see which ones. Even your standard bulk beer like Coors Light is not on that list, very weird. I'd probably go back if in Irving again, but not for the HH. 🙄

Definitely want to go back! So I don't know what it's like when it's busy because I was there from about 12-2:30pm on a Wednesday but I really enjoyed my time there. I wanted a quiet, interesting, and cozy place to have some lunch and read a book and this place was perfect. I can tell, though, it would be a lot of fun to be there at night especially in warmer weather as there was a great atmosphere and an even better outdoor seating seating area on the canal. The food was scrumptious, beer delicious , and staff (especially Jason) delightful. If you're in the area or don't want to be stuck in your hotel, I highly recommend The Ginger Man!
