We were early to the airport for our flight back home, so we looked up restaurants using our map application. We were looking for a restaurant across the street, but it was closed due to the holiday (it was Black Friday). Then my wife spotted Cielito's on the other side of the street.
We had previously lived in Texas for three years, and knew that most of the time, Mexican food is actually what they call Tex-Mex. Having significant experience with authentic Mexican food, we wanted anything other than Tex-Mex!
When we walked into the restaurant, we could see that it would not be a Tex-Mex place. Yelp showed very good reviews, so we gave it a try.
The server was a very sweet woman from Mexico ... she spoke English well, very gracious and conscientious. Seemed like she was tuned in to us and what we wanted. So, we asked her for recommendations. When she described the dishes, she herself seemed genuinely amazed at the quality and taste of the food she served every day. That's always a good sign.
So, we ordered Mahi Mahi tacos and chicken enchiladas, and split the meals between us.
Chips came out, and they were perfect. Warm, not too hot. Thick and crunchy, and crispy too. They were perfect. If I could design the perfect corn tortilla chip, that would have been it. And the salsa was the best I've ever tasted in a restaurant.
Then the meal. The sauces were incredible. We found out that the cuisine was from the Mexican state of Puebla. Everything was perfect. The rice was very tasty, cooked perfectly. And the beans (charro beans) were also perfect. We could not have improved upon this meal. I didn't want the experience to end, the food was so good.
After we paid the bill, as we were leaving, we got into a conversation with the owner, Omarr. What a nice man. We asked about the restaurant, how long it had been there, and just chatted. He agreed with us about the Tex-Mex deal, and we told him how much we enjoyed each dish.
I told him I'd write a review for him, and he bowed in appreciation. Next time we're at DFW, we'll go again.
I'm hoping that this review will entice those who've never had authentic Mexican food, to give it a try. I think it will be worth it. Oh and by the way, the prices were...
Read moreThe food is absolutely amazing! I was very busy with budget season in November 2023 (financial analyst FP&A) So it was budget season for me. November is also my anniversary with wife. Didn't think I would get to celebrate. Wife mentioned that her and her sis really enjoyed the food. So I was able to get off at a decent time and surprised my wife with dinner here. I enjoyed it and the service was amazing. We went back for brunch and I ordered the Chorrizo egg tacos! The tacos came out absolutely amazing... The bar tender that served us was on point the bloody Mary was great. We went back again this weekend and was gladly greeted by the same loving bartender and she automatically new everything we wanted. Sorry for the long post but they deserve it! Called my mom to see what she wanted to do for mother's day I mentioned several restaurants like Korean BBQ (Gen) and several other places to open their eyes to new food they haven't tried. Mentioned Cielito and they were immediately drawn to it! They drove from Murphy TX and they loved it!!!! I don't usually leave ratings but this place deserves it! I met one of the owners in the morning and he is such a gentleman! Went for dinner and we went hard with our order.... They did not disappoint. My step dad is very picky about service and food. Like he will tell a waitress she sucks and still tip well. He didn't haven't a single issue and wants to go back. This place is our new brunch spot for sure and the dinner is even better! BTW I love spicy if you do to ask for the habanaro salsa! So...

In every neighborhood exists a hidden gem that subtly radiates an aura of authenticity, vibrancy, and top-tier craftsmanship. I am beyond delighted to have discovered such a treasure in our very own locality, this splendid new restaurant.
The heart and soul of any great establishment are its people, and here, the staff genuinely shine like polished diamonds. Every interaction with the team behind the bar is marked by a captivating blend of professionalism and warmth. Their knowledge and passion for their craft, coupled with a knack for putting patrons at ease, add a uniquely personal touch to the dining experience that transcends the mere transactional nature of hospitality.
But the true pièce de rÊsistance was their margarita. Allow me to emphasize - this was no ordinary cocktail. Each sip of this transcendent concoction was like a ballet of flavors pirouetting on my palate, perfectly harmonized and exquisitely balanced. The nuances of tequila, fresh citrus, and just the right amount of sweetness were woven together into a drink that could very well be the pinnacle of human achievement in margarita making.
So whether you're seeking a soul-soothing atmosphere, staff who make you feel like family, or a margarita that is nothing short of legendary, look no further. This establishment isn't just a restaurant; it's an enchanting culinary journey and a testament to the heights gastronomy can reach. Be sure to stop by, and prepare yourself for an...
