I donāt even know where to start. The experience was so bad itās comical at this point and if I could give this negative stars I would. My partner and I came in for his appointment with Rei. When my he sat on her chair and started looking at his hair, she kept calling his hair Asian hair, my partner is Mexican⦠she then randomly switched the conversation to talk about the giant age gap between her and her young boyfriend who is in his early 20s. Which we were already puzzled by how we even got there, but it didnāt stop there. She started saying things like younger girls his age were r word and proceeded to say that I wasnāt one of them tho⦠lol? I immediately stopped her and I let her know we donāt like/use that word. She attempted to excuse herself by letting me know her daughter is autistic and non verbal which I still said I disagreed with and she just went on about that for a minute. Then what felt like an eternity she just went on about how girls his age were shitty etc. I decided to just step out for a breather because at the end of the day, my man was still in her chair and I didnāt wanna risk him getting a bad haircut lmao (honestly the haircut itself isnāt even bad) I came back in after a couple mins and the amount of damage control she attempted was embarrassing. When I told her we are actually millennials as well, her jaw was on the floor :-) needless to say, would not we commend!
TL;DR: if you wanna get a haircut by an ableist, racist person, go ahead and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off this place is cash only. Second call ahead and make an appointment. They are getting so busy now that's it's almost impossible to walk in and get an appointment. Third they have inexpensive services for everything.
I've been meaning to check this place out for years. I used to drive by it a lot, and I would always hear of people recommending it, but it's not exactly on my side of town. However, I needed a change and after 15 or so years I decided for my 30th birthday I need a different style of hair cut.
I called in a day in advance and Wade helped me set up an appointment at 11:30am on a Saturday. I showed up a little early was able to sit down for a few minutes and check out the atmosphere of this place. Old school barbershop to the tee. When it was my turn I showed Wade 4 pictures of the style I was looking to get and expressed my concerns and ideas to him. He walked me through the process he'd do to cut it to the new look and reassured me that I could rock the new look. He recommended some new styling cream and helped give me some pointers on how to style it and what to expect when it got longer. He took his time and lots of patience with me as well as good conversation.
Phenomenal experience and results. I am getting great feedback from friends and family for the new hair style. I recommend this place hands down for all the bros out there. Hair cuts, beard trims, or straight razor shaves... this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor the longest time, I didn't know the difference between a cosmetologist and a barber. Gentlemen, there is a difference. Those women (and men) who are employed by the chain hair cut factories are NOT barbers. Why is this important? Because, while cosmetology is a career, barberology is a craft. And Master Barber and owner of Pomade and Tonic, Farrell Stephens, is a true master of his craft.
Farrell has been cutting my hair for a few months now, and it has never looked better (my girlfriend is always telling me how much more she likes it now). Like any craftsman, I only had to tell him how I style my hair, and he knew how to cut it so that it looks good all the way until it is time for my next trim. After a few visits with Farrell, my hair had grown out and the abomination that had been on my head from years of "what number of guard do you use?" was gone. In it's place is a professional, classy haircut that gets me compliments wherever I go.
As for Pomade and Tonic, it's not only a place to get a great haircut, but it's a great place to get a haircut. It's got a classic vibe that is inviting and comfortable, and with the pool table, poker table and bar, it's a place to hangout after your done. It's a throwback to the glory days of the barber shop, and even though it's across town from me, I gladly make the 20-30 minute drive every time. Do yourself a favor, stop by next time you...
