Sweet Dragon Boba Tea — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

Summary: Disappointing overpriced milk-water. It's not worth your time and money for now.

Visit 1: Taro Coconut Milk Tea Rating: 0/10 Price: $5.99 Regular Size (~16oz) Thoughts: Watered down milk with a hint of coconut & taro. First time a bubble tea to give me a stomach ache.

Visit 2: Match Milk Tea w/ Tapioca Rating: 1/10 Price: $5.99 Regular Size + $0.99 Tapioca Thoughts: Tasted like watered down milk with a hint of matcha. Tapioca was not sweet and had inconsistent texture. Some were too hard in the center, some too soft.

Strawberry Peach Smoothie Rating: 4/10 Price: $5.99 Regular Size Thoughts: Initially tasted like real strawberries and peaches. After a few minutes, the syrup settles at the bottom and all you can taste is the really sweet syrup. I couldn't mix it back together with the straw.

Other Comments: I visited twice during soft opening week on different days to see if it got better. It didn't. Hope it gets better on grand opening 6/3/2023.

I also visited their GraviTea location in Schaumburg a few times, and it had great bubble teas. I was expecting the same with this Sweet Dragon location, but was left disappointed.

The menu design is also needs some improvements in terms of contrast and color choices for text, background color, and images. I found it difficult to read some of the menu items.

On a bright note, great interior decor! I can see it being a great place to hangout once the drinks are comparable to the GraviTea location, and the food is available (hopefully good too). I hope this place gets the...

(Please pardon me, as this is my first review, but I ask you read to the end because I am giving all my thoughts, thank you!) I went there recently and personally I think the 1 star reviews are harsh. The place is cute, looks really nice, and, even though some reviews say it smells bad I did not experience that. It smelled fine and not like smoke. There wasn’t many people there when I came but the service was above average (but nothing crazy) and the boba came out at an alright speed. The boba itself has many different flavors that you can even mix and match, which I think is pleasant. I will say, like some others, the boba was sweet. I got cookies and cream but even for that it was a little on the sweet side, and it got harder to drink over time, so if you don’t like very sweet things I would not recommend. Also, the packaging was a little cheap, I dropped mine and the cup split open, but as long as you don’t drop it, it works. Everything else was fine, great even. If I had more specific rating, I’d rate the boba itself a 8.5 (out of ten) and the place a 9.5. Also before I finish this crazily long review, I’d also like to say that this place is very new, so I’m sure it can improve over time, things like the cup quality and the sweetness can improve over time, and I’d say it’s to early to make a definitive statement about the place. I got the milk tea with brown sugar and tapioca, in terms of boba it was pretty good— tapioca was soft and squishy. The tea was not too sweet despite the “brown sugar” that was placed in the order but I typically prefer a little less sweet boba anyway so it was good. The tea itself tastes a bit like powdered flavoring that you can buy to make boba at home but that doesn’t mean it’s bad!! I would say the taste is very muted and not super flavorful. It doesn’t really taste like milk and it doesn’t taste like brown sugar either— it’s very delicate. Pretty solid boba though I’ve def had worse. Only other weird thing (and this may be due to us ordering during the opening week) was that there was only one employee working to service 6 or more guests and it made me feel bad to add to her load. We had ordered online and paid for a sandwich as well but when I arrived we were told they have /NO FOOD/. Keep this in mind when ordering since you are able to pay for food online. It was not such a big deal though as we had only wanted to try it out but if someone had ordered for lunch I can imagine they would be fairly...
