I wanted to love it. I honestly did since moving here.
I think farmers market prices are abit higher for the quality of produce you get.
But the gouging prices at this one are insane.
$9 bucks for a loaf of plain baguette!!! (tasted like plain baguette) Like is bread. Itโs literally plain bread. Why is it 9 dollars? Itโs 7 at Whole Foods, longevity is exactly the same as the bloody loaf I got from the farmers market.
$9-13 bucks for a dozen of eggs (I didnโt mind it since the orange golden yolks are hard to find in the city for less)
$28-34 usd per pound for ribeye is abit insane.
The Flowersโฆ are over priced and mostly half dead.
They had decent fried chicken and waffles I must say but omg. I felt like I was being robbed getting out of the farmers market on Sunday. Got some fresh produce, bread, eggs and left.
I saw some great vendors but thatโs less than a handful to be honest.
I honestly donโt mind paying higher price for better quality or tastier produce. But the quality seems to me are just the same as any supermarket standards. With a much higher mark up.
Itโs a cute Sunday stroll but I would say youโll get just the same crap or better in Costco or jewels.
I donโt understand the reason behind these ridiculous prices on average quality produce but maybe having a better vetting system for vendors or not over charging on mediocre produce would be amazing.
Also I feels more like a street festival with clothing vendors than it is a...
ย ย ย Read moreLogan square farmer's market was overall a good experience for us. I have gone alone, as a family, and just with my son. Once you find parking, you have like 2 and a half blocks double sided of vendors including meat, cheese, nuts, sauces vegetables, cooked onsite food, herb plants, flowers, drinks, breads and a few clothing or accessories vendors. Each week, it varies. I have been 3 times this summer. It is nestled next to trees so you can bring a blanket to have a picnic in the grass. I keep over buying and letting produce sit in the fridge too long when I should clean, prep, and freeze them. The items just don't have the same preservatives as store-brought. Two of my favorite things have been getting fresh bok choy for dinner and this crepe station. They have a brochure that list all the markets, way more than I knew of, and explains a link match program, which is great. It's worth...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Logan square farmers market is one of the better markets I have been to throughout the country. You can enter from either side of the market. And it spans the boulevard. Provided lots of shade surrounded by the trees. Vendors are well spaced out and they manage the number of people entering so it's not crowded and easy to shop. Plenty of different vendors that have everything you could think of! And even things you didn't think of. My favorite unique item is Jo Snow. They have many different created syrups. And flavor drops. A must stop by vendor. Give this one a swing by you will be glad you did.
Update May 2022 the market is back and strong. Some new vendors and more cooked food tonearm options. Empanadas, soups, My favorite hasn't been back this year though going to have...
