This is a very nice subway station - clean, spacious and modern. For $5 you can get from the airport to downtown Chicago in about 40 minutes.
CTA service got really bad during the pandemic, but has been gradually getting better over the past year. Trains leave every 10 minutes approximately. It's generally safe but there are occasionally homeless people or smokers on the train. It runs 24 hours but I probably wouldn't take the train after midnight. The trains are old, but they are slowly starting to roll out brand new trains on this line that are much nicer.
Overall I would recommend taking the train if you are traveling without a lot of luggage and trying to get to the Loop cheaply and efficiently. If you have a lot of luggage or traveling to a neighborhood outside of downtown, a taxi might be a better option.
Pro tip: there are signs at the front of the platforms that will tell you which train is leaving next. Pay attention when boarding the train to...
Read moreNot a fan of public transit.... But I kept an open mind and removed whatever negatives I was told about subways and weird people using it.

Only several people were riding along on the same cart that we were on. We took the same route back today, Saturday late afternoon. It was jam packed but had dwindled down as we arrived closer towards the last stop, O'hare airport. Not many left at this point but four passengers.
Overall, both ride experience was surprisingly good. Such a convenience. Staff members working at ticket booth were helpful and patient with our inquiries. Security guards were also...
Read moreJune 30. 2022 it took me an hour and half to get home, and that's with my husband picking me up at the train. The Forest Park train was very delayed due to some criminal activity, I only found out because I had to go back to the station to speak to a live CTA employee from the Washington underground platform. The announcements made overt PA system were inaudible, the station was very hot. In these pandemic circumstances with the crowd of people on the platform, it was very dangerous. I was lucky that I could take the Green line home and have my husband pick me up at the nearest train stop line. The Chicago Transit Authority does not care for their passengers. They are not dependable. They don't own up to their mistakes. It is...
