In Seattle, the rhododendron season typically peaks from late April to early June. This is when these vibrant and colorful flowers are in full bloom, providing a spectacular display in gardens and parks throughout the city.
Key Locations to See Rhododendrons in Seattle:
Washington Park Arboretum: This park has an extensive collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, making it a prime spot for viewing these blooms.
Kubota Garden: Known for its beautiful landscaping and diverse plant life, Kubota Garden is another excellent location to see rhododendrons.
Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden: Located in Federal Way, just a short drive from Seattle, this garden has one of the largest collections of rhododendron species in the world.
Tips for Enjoying Rhododendron Season:
Visit in the Morning: Early morning visits can be less crowded and provide a serene experience with the morning light enhancing the beauty of the blooms. Photography: Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the vibrant colors. Overcast days can actually be great for photography as the diffused light brings out the colors of the flowers. Check Bloom Status: Some gardens and parks provide updates on the bloom status of their rhododendrons, so check online before you go to ensure you visit during peak bloom.

Read moreWhile we were there, we saw a cute family of ducks with the cutest little ducklings. &A crow that seemed very comfortable around people. Trails thru wetlands to the playground. My kids liked the playground. I saw a few ramps. Much of the equipment was for climbing. There are swings; 2 bucket swings, 2 regular. (No swings with harnesses.) Plenty of spin-y equipment. (My kids love those) And a sand box sort of area in the shade. The restrooms were pretty clean. And there were a variety of pretty Rhodes and hydrangeas. (I only wish more people would have their kids pick the fallen flowers and not the live ones on the bushes. That way we all can enjoy them longer.) There are plenty of comfortable benches to sit on under the shade of the trees. Lots of shady areas. There was a picnic shelter for anyone that wants to reserve it for a gathering. I think it had about 5 picnic tables.. The big open field is nice for running around and doing kart wheels (like my daughter enjoys) or laying out a...
