Nearly impossible to find someone to help you out on the floor. Had to ask 3 different people for help only to hear âlet me call someone to help youâ. Finally after 40mins waiting for this very nice young woman who was trying so hard to help everyone on the floor she gets âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ while the manager gets zero for their not supporting the employees on the floor.
Best Buy Kennewick, WA: A Frustrating and Embarrassing Experience
My son recently purchased a Meta Oculus from the Best Buy in Kennewick, Washington, spending $500â$600 on what should have been a high-quality device. However, within less than 30 days, he found the battery life to be unacceptable, lasting only 45 minutes per chargeâfar from what one would expect from a premium product.
Given this issue, he decided to return it for store credit, which should have been a routine process. Instead, what followed was an embarrassing and frustrating ordeal that left us questioning Best Buyâs customer service, integrity, and inventory practices.
A Suspicious Serial Number Mismatch
When my son attempted to return the device, the store associate claimed that the serial number on the Oculus did not match the one on the receipt. This was baffling and humiliating, especially because: I was physically present when he purchased it and again when he attempted to return it. There was no chance of any mix-up on our end. The product was brand-new and never swapped or replaced. How could the serial number be different from what Best Buy had in its system? Best Buy refused to take accountability for the error. Instead of recognizing the obvious issue in their own tracking system, they essentially treated us as if we were trying to return a different device.
This entire process was not only frustrating but embarrassing, as we were made to feel like we were trying to pull a scamâwhen in reality, Best Buyâs system was at fault.
Serious Concerns About Best Buyâs Inventory System
This experience raises major red flags about Best Buyâs tracking and sales process: ⢠Did they sell my son an item with a mismatched serial number from the beginning? If so, that suggests serious negligence or even a potential issue with repackaged returns. ⢠How often does this happen to other customers? If serial numbers on receipts and products donât match, itâs likely a systemic issue, not a one-time error. ⢠Why is the customer responsible for Best Buyâs inventory mistakes? Rather than investigating their own tracking issues, they denied the return and put the blame on us.
A Cautionary Warning for Future Buyers
This experience was both frustrating and embarrassing, and I wouldnât want anyone else to go through the same ordeal. If youâre considering purchasing high-value electronics from Best Buy, I strongly recommend: Checking the serial number on your product before leaving the store. Ensure it matches whatâs on the receipt. Taking photos of the receipt and the box to have proof in case of a dispute. Reconsidering Best Buy altogether if you want a reliable return policyâbecause clearly, they arenât always willing to honor their own systemâs records.
After this incident, I canât recommend shopping at Best Buy, especially for expensive electronics. If a major retailer canât properly track their own inventory or take responsibility for their mistakes, then customers are left vulnerable to unfair policies, embarrassment, and...
Read moreI live a block away from this place and won't shop here ever again. been shopping there since they opened there doors. past 2 years I've bought so many defective products from this store I'm surprised this place can be open. from TVs, xboxs ,phones and computers. my latest problem makes me so frustrated I had to call corporate to say I'm done shopping here. canceled the best buy card and had them delete me from there records.
I buy a open box computer. get the Geek squad protection and have them install windows office for me. it takes them 2 days to do that when I got over there they told me 6-8 hours tops because we got nothing ahead of you. sounds great. I pick up my computer everything seemed to be OK until I get home open it up the next morning and can't connect to WIFI. What?!?! why can't I connect to WIFI??? I try to fix it which was 2 hours of frustration and banging my head against the wall until best buy opened. I go in and sure enough they tell me (really quickly like he knew this computer was faulty) this computer is diffective. WHAT?????? you had this computer for 2 days and it's diffective!!!!!!! how can this happen?? all they can say is these things happen. these things happen when you have dumb managers hiring dumb people that's when that can happen. how can you have something for 2 days working on it and not know it's diffective?? this dosnt make sense. so they said we can exchange it for you and brought me over to the open box computers. I tell the Manger I don't want a open box because it sounds to me like you don't check them very well. I want the computer I bought for the price I bought it for. they say well we can't do that but we can give you your money back. wow what great costumer service. let's sell you something that we know doesn't work so we can sell you the brand new one. even the corporate guy was really puzzled on that one. he said I can understand products being diffective but for are geek squad to have it for 2 days and not see anything wrong is a problem. dUH!!!!!!! that's why I bet yours sells have dropped in the last 2-3 years because it used not be this way. I had the Xbox 360 and went threw 4 rings of death with best buy and they handled it perfectly. but now when I have a problem it's seems to be me I'm talked down to like I'm a child that doesn't know how to use there toys.
DON'T SHOW HERE!!!!!!! I'm never going back to best buy after this. my wife and I were elite members because we spent so much money in there. now I'm headed to Seattle to buy a computer. next time when I need something I'll just stay home and shop on amazon. that way I don't have to deal with kids that have no clue what there doing sell me something they have...
Read morePurchased an open box laptop in âgood conditionâ meaning may be without box or non-essential parts. Cool. The laptop appears to be in good condition but came without a charger which is an ESSENTIAL part. I was told by an employee with no name tag in all grey sweatpants and a hoodie itâs an online purchase and they donât need to provide me one and directed me to buy a universal cord in the back of the store. I hesitantly purchased a lame universal cord⌠It didnât work.
I spoke with customer service, online. They disagree and said itâs absolutely essential. I tried to call the store. They duck customers and they donât accept outside calls. It goes to a call center. I hate sounding like a Karen but this is stupid.
Now I have a dead laptop until I can source a proper power cord to see if the laptop even works. I reiterated with the unknown associate wearing his sweet all grey workout gear a power cord should be included. He doubled down saying itâs not their responsibility because I purchased it online and they got it from someone else. Thatâs not what the website says and shouldnât be my problem. But now it IS my problem.
So, donât buy something online in stock in store and go pick it up. According the nameless man in grey, they donât sell it, itâs online and not their responsibility but theyâll take your money and back it with a warranty. I buy quite a bit online for in store pick up and things my first issue and if this is the reward for using their online system. No thanks.
You canât call the store, you canât complain online or have anyone contact the store. Itâs up to you to be the annoying customer spending hours fixing something they refuse to do. This is my first issue and I think Iâm done with Best Buy I donât need the account. I need to shop elsewhere even if it takes longer. This is really, really dumb.
UPDATE: As you can see from the response below. More call centers answering your complaints and wanting you to follow them on their socials and give personal info in a DM. This is more interesting to them than...
