Read prior reviews and decided to give it a try. What a mistake. $30 for two people and that was with a senior discount! Went to look over the food selections and was already disappointed. Mostly several different presentations of chicken and fish. I love chow mein and fried rice, but I have never seen ORANGE fried rice! I tried it. It was nasty! Tasted like it had been fried in old used oil. I love chinese green beans. Theirs seemed like they had dumped them in oil and put them in a microwave for ten seconds. They were cold and barely cooked past raw. In fact all of their vegetables were barely cooked. The only thing I would have given 5 stars for was the coconut shrimp it was the best thing there. The fried shrimp was good, as well as the salmon, and I am not a fish/ seafood person. If you like Mongolian beef that will set your hair on fire, you will love theirs. Desserts are the standard chinese offerings. The fried donuts were rock hard. They had sugared peanuts which were good, as well as an ice cream bar with 8 or 9 different flavors to choose from. And they will serve it to you in a cone or tin. They dont replenish their steam trays very often. And even though they are open until 9, it was only a few minutes after 8 when we finally choked down our dinner and left, and almost everything on the food islands was empty and they werent putting any fresh food out. Now, granted, there were only a handful of diners left in the place, but those people might have wanted more food. MIGHT, I say. Another reviewer said they used canned peaches. Yep. And to top it off, when we came in and sat down to eat, there were 5 tables that had dishes left all over them.from people who had finished and left. Those tables were still dirty when WE left, nearly an hour later. All in all, if you just HAVE to have chinese buffet, and you dont have a sensitive palate, go ahead and try it. Just expect mediocrity, and you wont be...
Read moreMy wife and I have been eating here occasionally since the place first opened. At first, it was great. However, it has been steadily declining and our most recent visit (today) will probably be our last.
There was no dish present that I would describe as anything better than "average", and most were below average or poor. Some of the steam table stations were either not working or not on, resulting in cold food. The texture of the Mongolian Beef - usually one of my favorites - was mushy. Enough so to make me wonder whether it was really beef. Egg rolls were not great, baked seafood was dried out, the texture of the pepper chicken was just not right.. There was only one item - fried shrimp - that I wasn't disappointed with. At the end of the meal, I was still hungry but decided on just getting dessert because there was no main course that I wanted more of.
Cleanliness has also gone downhill. My wife complained to me that there was used toilet paper just thrown on the floor in the restroom. And apparently a significant portion of the customers here are of the belief that the trash can is a better place than the toilet to dispose of used toilet paper.
Another issue - and I know it is not the fault of the establishment - but for some reason this place seems to be attracting very rude selfish customers lately. At each of our last two visits, there was someone who would wait for crab to come out, and take EVERY SINGLE crab leg, every time more was brought out.
And finally, service: There really isn't any that I can see any more. None of our used plates were cleared from the table during our entire visit this time. This, despite the fact that there were only 4 or 5 groups of diners present. I've never left any restaurant without leaving at least some kind of tip.....
Read moreThursday night around 5pm. Not familiar with Tri-C at all. First i noticed, lady at the front desk asked for $20 as I had barely came through the door. Not a "hi how are you?", nothing. Plus she was a wearing a face mask and rubber gloves and sat behind a 4' tall x 12' sheet of polycarbonate similar to DSHS office or warzone blast shield, I felt as if i was a Ukrainian Refugee escaping the war and being interrogated trying to get into camp. Anyway, i was just hoping to get a quick bit to eat and found this place. Not at all impressed. Nothing was hot except for the soup. Fried wontons were cold and most likely baked. No crab or shrimp, like advertised, im not a sushi chef and nor have i ever made sushi but im sure i could have done better, and for god sakes these people need to learn how to make sticky rice. The sushi fell apart. Everything else was either cold or lacked flavor. Not sure what they were trying to achieve by mixing imitation crab, butter and some vegi's and baking it!?!? F'n nasty!!
I understand that buffets are sometimes busy and it takes a lot to keep the place clean but there was a mess on the floor 2 booths down from me. A server looked at it walked over it atleast 4 times while i sat and ate. 2 of the buffets never got wiped down while when i went back 3 times. No one seems to care about what it looks during the dinner rush.
The good - its in a decent part of town, decent strip mall. The deep fried butterfly shrimp and soup were about the only thing I ate.
I dont do reviews much cause I more important things to do. And i think some go overboard/excessive on bashing places to get there rocks off. So... I have completed i "Karen" rant and rave. You all can eat at your own...
